The Christian Culture represented in the destiny universe:

So let’s get straight into this one. Christianity presented in the Destiny Universe: Weapons: - Uriel’s Gift - one of the archangels If post-exile rabbinic tradition. Characters: - The Templar - likely referencing the knights Templar, an order of Catholic military. Events: - The arrival of the Traveler - the traveler creates life, terraforming planets, moons and other celestial bodies. The Arrival is the traveler in sol could be a reference to Genesis and the creation of all life by God. - the Syzygy - Aurash (Oryx pre- larvae/ worm god pact) was consumed by her father’s final words, that the moons of fundament would align and create a giant wave that would annihilate their entire race. The worm gods discovered that the giant wave the Osmium king feared was created by “a traveler” (which we now know to be the traveler). In the bible the story of Noah shows God having flooded the earth. The traveler in the event reflects God, Oryx reflects Noah, and the surviving aboard the arc are reflected by Sathona, Xi Ro and the worm gods.
if you got this far, thank you for reading. I’d really appreciate if you leave any that I couldn’t find and I’ll edit OP with your find. Link to my master post https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/247827988/0/0
• Why do athests hate christians so much. And another question, why do you care about what religion I’m a part of? We just tell non christians about god because we believe that there is an afterlife, and god will bring judgment on every man and woman. We believe there is a hell and a heaven. I know you don’t. But hell is not a place we want anybody to go to.

        • Not a specific reference persay, but Ive always felt the 4 enemy races were pretty analogous to the 4 horsemen. Cabal = War (obviously), Fallen = Famine, since their motivations are scavenging for survival, Vex = Pestilence since they corrupt and consume, and Hive = Death, because boy do they literally love death.

              • As a Christian you missed one of the big ones in d1 there was a area in Rasputin called the serifim vault and the is serif rounds on the ikelos hand cannon and the 7 serifs are a group that are in charge of the warminds and are believed to have made them This is a reverence to Isaiah 6:2 3 4 and 6 which states “Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭6:2‬ ‭NIV‬ “And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭6:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭6:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭NIV The serafs are a hugely forgotten part of the destiny lore ‬‬and one that should be looked at more

                        1. Dawnblade: Invoked the Jude’s-Christian image of fire as the Aspect of the warrior-angel and Divine Justice. Throughout the Old Testament firey images are invoked frequently when God sought to punish the wicked. IRL this symbolism has been misappropriated by hateful ideologies like Nazism (torch light vigil) and hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan (burning cross) to try to legitimize them selves and insist that they are doing God’s Will and that they are God’s Chosen. 2. Wings of Sacred Dawn: Invokes the image of the Seraphim. One of the Highest Angelic Orders and closets to God Himself. (IIRC Lucifer was a Fallen Seraph). They are usually depicted as having three pairs of wings. Seraphim usually remain close to God unless there is a mission of grave importance to be done. For example, after the Fall of Man and our expulsion from Eden, God sent Seraphim armed with Sword of Fire (Dawnblade) to protect the entrance to The Garden and The Tree of (Eternal) Life. 3. Bit of a stretch and also crosses with Greek Mythology. The Fall of Ghaul and The Tower of Babel. Man tries to build a Tower to Heaven and is struck down and divided by God to deny Him access.

                              • Interesting post, I feel like there's probably more you could go into and I've seen plenty suggested, if I can set aside time to dig through my gear sets I'll post any stuff I can find. I could go on about my theoretical connections between Gnosticism and some other Christian things and their possible connections but this is more for mainline modern Christianity. Keep it up, love seeing these posts whenever I get on here.

I am more of the opinion that Destiny is influenced by all things Human and no one culture specifically. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, etc. You've almost touched on every major culture in the world and how they are represented in D2. Enough already.

How Does Oryx Reflect Noah? This is a terrible stretch to christianity and shows how you know nothing of it. I am not defending Christianity I am just saying that you clearly don’t know the religion due to these analogies. Trust me Noah never turned on God or went after him. Oryx situation is not Noah. Oryx escaped bc he made a deal with the Traveler’s enemy. Sounds nothing like Noah. Please be educated in a subject before making the wrong references’ analogies. The other religious post seemed good but it seems like you half assed this one just to get christianity in.
