The Dream
Cell-3 opens his eyes. He is on the ground, in a place he’s pretty sure he didn’t get to himself. He sits up to analyze his surroundings. He is in some kind of hallway in a palace. Grand, white pillars, with golden figures etched into them, hold up the roof on both sides. The floor is made of shiny, quartz tiles. Cell looks directly in front of him. At the end of the hall, a golden throne flows with white light. Above the throne is a shining, eagle-like figure made of pure light.
“Approach.” says the Eagle.
Cell walks to the end of the hall, and stops about 10 feet away from the figure. The light is blinding, the heat simmering him. The Eagle speaks in a slow, booming voice.
“You are not alone in your universe. There are many like you. Intelligent. Wanting to reach out and touch the stars.”
Cell tries to speak, but he finds he can’t open his mouth.
“But there are some creatures, both inside of your universe and out, that simply want to erase all form from the universe. Conquer. Kill. Destroy.”
The Eagle grows brighter, and the heat intensifies. Cell’s knees buckle, and he falls to the ground.
“MY FRIEND, THESE CREATURES ARE ON YOUR DOORSTEP, AND THEY AREN’T FRIENDLY. MANY WILL FALL. IT WILL NOT BE A HAPPY ENDING. BUT YOU MUST SURVIVE. YOU MUST PREVAIL.
YOU MUST KEEP YOUR FORM.”
The Eagle explodes in a ball of light. The heat is unbearable, Cell tries to scream, but he can’t. His body is incinerated. All is dark.
Cell opens his eyes. He is standing against the wall of an alley in New York, the place he last was. He closes his eyes, trying to recall what he saw in his dream, but he can’t. He walks down the sidewalk, and continues on with his day.
