Has anyone ever watched a kids TV show and realized it should be rated at least PG-13

Well I have decided to rewatch the clone wars in its entirety to get ready for season 7. Can we just wait a second to think about how this show has clone troopers being shot, exploded or stabbed almost every other episode? Also, I have caught three cuss words so far in it. First one was damn in the movie, hell in episode 5(the one with the Commando droids) and again in episode 21(hell again). I thought it was funny how each time someone used a cuss word, it was a clone trooper who used it. Then there is the whole thing about pinups being blurred in some episodes. You can spot some of the pinups in episode 5(I think) and definitely in episode 16(the one where slick is the traitor) you can see pinups in the clone’s bunk rooms. There are a few other episodes where pinups are shown. Most likely in a cantina or bar. Oh and don’t forget about some of the seedier places in the show have slave dancers. You just gotta love this show. I think that all these things I have listed help add depth to the clone troopers and help dhow that they are soldiers.

The live action alive in wonderland. At the end she literally chopped the dragons head off. Naruto also should probably be pg13 as well as full metal alchemist.

    • Heh. Clone wars should’ve been rated R during some of the deaths. Like a trooper falling to his death in Lava. That was gruesome lol

    • Actually, all that would still be a PG rating. Now, films that should definetly have a higher are: -Both Airplane films. -The Jaws films. -Some of the 60's POTA films. -2001: A Space Odyssey. -Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla/Terror of Mechagodzilla. -Both Anchorman films. -Titanic I would list more, but you most likely get the point: The TV and film rating systems are very flawed.

This was the good time for kids shows. They weren’t afraid to be dark, mature, and tell compelling and deep storylines. Heck, forget “kids shows”, most of them were good shows in general for everyone. Nowadays, we got... eh... this crap: https://pa1.narvii.com/6293/bfbf6eb775fd8a4105984c697d293e865dfb3729_hq.gif

      • Boobs used to be shown on PG movies. This is obviously taboo in America but maybe not so much in Europe

      • That's not worth a PG-13 rating, and they can't get away with it mainly cause it's star wars

And there is an episode where Savage Opress literally throws his lightsaber and decapitates like eight people

        • When I was little my brother and I really liked Ninja Turtles. We watched some old series as well as the new ones. Over time it's gotten a lot darker. The newest show consisting of mutants that kids could find disturbing, as well as a lot of death. During one of the first episodes I remember very clearly thinking "maybe my 8 year old brother shouldn't watch this". That was he episode where a plant mutant tries to use living human beings as fertilizer. It only got darker from there. The show has come a long way from where it started. And even the newer movies (which are rated PG-13) play constantly on Nickelodeon.

        • Remember that one episode where Ashoka and what's-his-name get kidnapped by Death Watch? Yeah, they stab the village chief's granddaughter and burn down the town. Then Ashoka decapitated 4 terrorists with one slash.
Still one of my favorites
I think, here in America, we believe cartoons must only be for kids. As an adult, I have no problem with watching perfectly animated shows aimed towards a grown up audience, but if you want to aim for them, do not try to market it for kids as well. Parents need to watch more of their kids cartoons with their kids. I do and if I find the show inappropriate, we no longer watch it.

            • I think damn and hell only rate a PG. Also, did you ever see "Hunchback of Notre Dame" by Disney. Great movie, but it didn't rate a G rating. And the movie "Oliver!" also a favorite of mine, sure didn't rate one. And the makers of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" must have bribed someone to get a PG.

Honestly it’s a little hard to think of anything I watched that didn’t get past the censors in one way or another. Rocket Power, maybe? Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century? A common feature admired by cartoons is how they can be fun to watch for both the children and the parents, and apparently that can mean making jokes that should hopefully go over the kid’s head until they’re older. Heck, getting stuff past the censors is a staple of cartoons for adult audiences as well. I remember hearing all these stories about how folks like the South Park guys would make what they thought would be the most unacceptable content they could think of so they could make whatever they wanted to do look simple and clean by comparison. There’s also some funny stories about situations where he purposefully raunchy/racy/wrong/etc. options got the greenlight.

The curses were censored on Cartoon Network, and a few other scenes (for example, the one where Savage decapitates a syndicate leader) were removed. Netflix left everything as it is, though.

That’s why it’s not a kids show. Idk why it’s so hard for people to understand. There’s also someone who gets beheaded too.

How many of you guys lived in the era of early Nicktoons such as Rocko's Modern Life or Ren and Stimpy? Or even further back, that episode of Sesame Street where Big Bird has to learm how to cope with the death of Mr. Hooper.
