The way the mission is introduced is really cool, and the mission itself is fun, interesting, and challenging, so why on Earth are you only letting me rerun it whenever RNGesus decides? You can run the Heroic from the director whenever you want once you beat normal mode, why can't I do the same for repeat attempts of normal mode? Nothing is more frustrating than seeing this cool and well thought out mission, failing it at first because it is challenging (a good thing,) and making me wait more than an hour before I can give it another shot. I'm all for challenging content, and the way you're introduced to the mission is cool, hence the event should only be required for your [i]first[/i] attempt.
EDIT: Perhaps just giving the taken event more consistency is more than enough. It doesn't even have to be extremely common, but maybe a rhythm to the events might be nice. Even after getting the gun, I still stand by my point that watching 4 cabal excavations in a row is never fun, but maybe that's the point and part of what makes getting the gun so rewarding. Do what you intend with it, bungo.

Unlocking a node is a great idea. You must kill one of the champions to unlock this node. Have someone, or another character, who has not killed the champion in the fireteam, then you have to wait for the event. There are other events (prestige raid) that will lock out a fireteam if someone doesn't meet the requirement. That could also happen with this. Easy peasy, and not so much time wasted sparrowing off of cliffs...

They don’t think that waiting makes getting the gun rewarding, it’s more likely they think waiting means people will be logged in and “playing the game longer”. I would like to say I like the mission and that Bungie did a great job on a secret, but tying it to a RNG public event makes it another false grind that isn’t fun.

Man you kids cry about everything. Just play as intended. I waited through 4 straight cabal events Friday night and was fine with it. This morning on IO it was 3 strait taken events. It's all chance, roll with it.

I had to suffer and so do you the answer is no. I swear if bungie does any changes to this to pander to you whinny brats I'm not playing anymore. I want things to change and be fair but learn how to grind and wait like everyone else. If you cant handle that then leave this game alone and go play something else.

Please no, how is that than special any longer? If you complete it the first time, you should still need to wait for the event to join the mission. This would be to much motion break Ing for people in your fireteam which have never played it.

It would be nice I it respawned every time the 20 minutes ended so that you could go to the flag and wait for it to spawn in 5 minutes. I hate waiting and hour, plus if it really is tied to Io being the flashpoint, it will be at least another 6 weeks before the quest would be an option again. I hope it is tied to just that public event and they can at least increase the frequency to every 20 minutes.

Or at least make it so if the timer runs out, it just starts you at the beginning of the mission again. At least that way, you can decide to keep trying... if not you try again some other time.

You like to do missions whenever you want? Might as well ask Bungie make it 99.5% jumping and you have to use one type of weapons hit some moving target within a 5-second window. How would that be for challenging and interesting?

Agreed bump the event spawn timer up and the cabal one down everyone goes to the rupture if they want the drill hardly see a soul at the one at lost oasis so theirs no point having it spawn so dam much maybe bring the enemy power level down to 390 or 385 would be good it’s ridiculously hard to get down to the bosses for most players I’m not a god dam pro player I find it extremely tough with how damage is to your character. I’m not saying nerf it to be a cake walk just a little tweak so it’s not so one shot at full 385 power most the time I’m dead in two so ??

I thought that at first but because the three times my lfg team it took 2-3 hours but when we got it we realized how good bungie had made the weapon. To sum it all up it’s worth every second it takes to get it

Or simply remove the Cabal Public Event from the area. Or turn the rate of it spawning instead of the Taken Event waaay down.

Serait il possible de faire en sorte que l'évènement arrive plus régulièrement car attendre entre 30 et 40 minutes pour avoir l'évent concerné et de plus ne pas voir le 1er boss spawn à l'endroit indiqué ça fout bien les boules.

It wouldn't be a problem if the Taken Blights were given a higher chance of spawning or if the Heroic Public Event from the Cabal also triggered it (think of the Taken seeing the Valus as a threat so they come to cleanse him).

Either This or increase the spawn of the Taken Blight event to being 1 in every 3 Public events in the area.
