Have they not considered anything like this? Instead of the grimoire system from D1, why not have a “Loremaster” or Librarian at the tower in which you can unlock and view events? A timeline. Some would be simply for completing things and would unlock all associated lore, others could be secrets discovered from scanning things in the environment.

There's libraries in the comics, why can't they just give us something like that.

Edited by Trixie: 7/18/2018 9:26:17 PMI know many have long forgotten Bungies idea about the lore... Way before D1 released they said - "Destiny will be a tale that cautiously unwinds over the course of several game releases that may even see us have to wait a decade for any sort of closure." & By Bungie’s own admission, lore will be told through its weaponry. According to art designer Tom Doyle, Destiny’s weapons represent - “Some of the most persistent forms of artwork in the game, so therefore, it’s one of the loudest channels to tell the story of Destiny”. He continued “There is a lot of what I refer to as ‘implied fiction’ in the weapons. The design and detail of weapons like The Duke or Thunderlord are meant to convey the sort of creator who made it, the place it came from, and the sort of user who’d wield it. The idea is to give the world – and the guns and manufacturers in it – a feeling that they existed before you found a weapon, and will continue to long after you’re done.” The lore of Destiny was never intended to be fully disgorged (at once). Part of the lore is the piecing together the lore. Our guardian has been resurrected to be a soldier to a floating white orb over the Earth. Part of the lore is coming up with your own thoughts and ideas of what's real and what's not. Gathering tid bits of lore is part of the lore. Although “implied fiction (lore)” would suggest something much more indirect than an almanac of earth’s history bundled in with each and every weapon you find, the prospect of unique weapon descriptions revealing more of both their heritage and the heritage of the planet sounds like a great way to convey some of the smaller events of the Destiny universe. This was Bungie's conceived idea from the start. Bungie (2012) - "A concept that allows for multiple conclusions based on your choices throughout a game..." & "...experience the story and lore that makes up this universe...if you can piece it together."

+yes!

Lol. They left her at the farm by herself. Tyra Karn is an immortal “student of history.” Oh, and she lost her memory when she lost her light. Why? Because they needed a cryptarch at the farm and because Bungie probably has the worst narrative team ever.
-
Also a stylist so we can change our hair
-
Only if it's Byf.
-
And they had bounties or a questline all to themselves going over past events!
-
It would be awesome if they did that. I am looking forward to the lore tab in Forsaken so here is to hoping it is a step in the right direction.

Edited by Swiftlock: 7/18/2018 6:53:26 PMHonestly, this should've been in D1 at launch. Having to go to an external website outside of the game just to read the Grimoire was a mistake. Even the original Mass Effect had a huge codex that you could read anytime from the pause menu, and many sections had voiced narration.

Lore is too hard. -Bungie

Edited by Mowbz: 7/18/2018 4:14:05 PMThey considered it... Someone said someone would have to write code for it, everyone laughed...then they moved onto the next topic of discussion. True story.

Good idea, so its never going to happen.

I agree completely. Not just to display the grimoire but cutscenes as well. Having just bought D2 a few days ago, and having not played since kings fall, whilst I was really happy with the amount of story in the Red War campaign (completed it about half hour ago) I was disappointed not to see dead ghosts in this game. Whilst I was bitterly disappointed with the amount of story in D1 and all its expansions, the grimoire offered a deeper lore you can’t really convey in cutscenes- the ancient history of the Hive was definitely my favourite. People have been arguing that the grimoire should have been in game instead of on b.net since launch near enough, yet it was never implemented in D1 so I doubt we’ll see it now. If it is though, I’d go one further and port everything over from D1 to be accessible in D2 with a few tweaks for the new patrol bounty systems. Have the entire solar system in one place. But that’ll never happen.

Getting lore pieces, scannables, enough activities conpleted, killing certain types of enemies x amount, completing armor sets/weapon collections/exotics would unlock lore related cinematics. I would pay for this.
-
Tyra is a historian and has a little building with nothing in it. Why can’t we open that little room up by turning it into a library of sorts so we can go in there and look at lore?
-
You could like replay memories... wait... ITS IKORA!!!🤯. Like you could replay twilight gap and other battles
-
That's a role Rahool and other cryptarchs like Tyra should had from the beginning of D1...
-
THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS!!!

I always believed that the speaker should have been the character you go to read the grimoire with. Just seems like it would work? Talk to him and open up your collection of card's
-
That would be FANTASTIC. And maybe you could run around doing adventures for them, helping find information that contributes to the overall lore of the universe.
-
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE THE BUNGIE DEVELOPMENT TEAM??
-
The library in Ana's comic seems a good place for this.
-
If only there were someone we already knew who already has a background as a historian. *coucg* Tyra Karn *cough*
-
There will be a lore tab added into the game when forsaken comes out.
-
You could put Hillary Clinton in the tower since she likes talking about the past so much
