For the same reason I play any computer game. To play the game. Hell I play games where there is absolutely no point in playing it, other than to play it (FSX for instance).
The reward is in having fun while playing, not the loot you get doing it. People forget that.

Destiny is a looter. Better loot should be your priority and not wasting time and bothering your teammates. You are definitely better at playing a single player game than destiny.

Eh no. Destiny is a game, period. 30+ years of gaming has taught me very well that your priority should be having fun. If it's not, your doing it wrong.
