The Forsaken reveal trailer thing (and even the story reveal trailer) makes me so nervous for Forsaken. Don't get me wrong, I'm really excited for random rolls, the new supers look awesome, and the new area looks cool. But the story, they barely even talked about it. I just watched The Taken King reveal trailer, and they actually talked about the story. The whole beginning of the video basically summed up the plot in a few minutes. But as for the Forsaken one, there wasn't really a story reveal. When they announced that Cayde will die, I obviously got really angry, but not because I thought they made the wrong decision, but instead because Cayde is one of the few good characters in Destiny. I thought that it had such great potential for a meaningful and impactful story. However, there was an interview between GamesRadar and Bungie that first made me nervous. They talked about how you could choose your path (yay) and other stuff that's too extensive for me to write. But then they said how they weren't really focusing as much on a cinematic story but instead other elements of the game that need improvement. Obviously I really want to see a better endgame and improved loot, but I also really want a great story. Like is Cayde's death the whole plot of the story? Is it just a revenge story? Is it like we kill Uldren (or whatever his name is) and then it's over? Will we see the lasting effects on the Vanguard, Zavala, and Ikora? I always thought that Destiny had such great potential for an amazing story, I mean look at the lore, it's great. I feel like we were so close to getting the perfect story for The Taken King, and that with just a little bit of improvement we (or I guess "I") would get the Destiny we always wanted (with everything else like the endgame being great too). Sorry this was like an essay I just had so much to say. But I don't know, maybe I just missed something.

But they also said several times that they give away too much during reveal trailers and they want the player to discover the game themselves. So maybe the lack of information on the story was intentional? Just don’t expect storytelling on the scale of Final Fantasy or the Witcher, it’ll probably be no different than what we had for Destiny 2 vanilla.
