So...this a story I need to tell.
My friends (who will only be named as Dark and Bryce) has been playing Sea of Thieves for a good hour and a half. We had raided a stronghold with another crew, sat on a few thrones, and decided to wrap up our night by doing a few voyages.
We had 3 captains chests, 2 marauder chests, and I want to say 5 seafarers chests? Either way, we on our way to Thieves haven to get the last chest, until a sloop with obviously some skilled players tried to sink us.
We had played the worst game of cat and mouse for about 20 full minutes (that’s right, 20 -blam!-ing minutes) until shit just went south really fast. Quite literally. We turned south to try and avoid the sloop, only for the music to go “Dun dun...Dun dun”. Instantly Dark is like “SHIT!”.
Next thing I know, -blam!-ing Megladon is taking bites out of our ship, while the sloop is still trying to sink us.
After another 40 minutes of this, we finally lose the sloop, and get to an outpost so that the shithead Meg couldn’t attack us. We traded in our loot and I took a breath.
Whole. -blam!-ing. Hour. Of my life. Wasted by a sloop.
Anyways, if you read this far, thanks.

Even though it’s free with Xbox games pass in the UK, it’s my least favourite Rare game to date, I’m sorry, just find it a chore!

Sea of thieves may not be the best game ever, but the stories you can tell are cool. Once I was on a skull fort and about to beat it when another ship came in and killed all of us and took the final key. While we traveled back, they looted the whole place and began traveling to an outpost. We cut them off and they turned towards a farther outpost that was in a storm. With nothing to lose, we went after them. We were right on their tail, when suddenly both our ships halted progression as a Kraken attacked both our ships. It sunk the enemy ship, and the loot seemingly vanished because of the intense storm. Thanks, Kraken.

Sorry I had to laugh. I feel you, though. Me and my friend were on a sloop, alright? Here we were, minding our own business, when this Galleon just started chasing us down. We swerved around rocks, U-turned around islands, and did whatever we could to avoid this guy. Eventually, maybe 40 minutes or so, we finally get away from this guy, and start heading to an outpost. Then we’re attacked by another sloop, just before the outpost. We were just fed up at this point, so we decided to hold our ground, and take ‘em down. We ended up sinking them, luckily enough, but as we finally got to the oupost, the sloop found us again, and nabbed a couple of our more valuable items. We didn’t lose everything, but man was it annoying. No progress for an entire jamblasted hour. Now, I have a few “we lost everything” stories too, but they’re all pretty unremarkable.
If complete & perfect success is the metric you're using to determine if your time was well spent, you're doing it wrong. By your own admission you still got some loot out of the ordeal. Additionally, I'm sure your shipmates would be glad to hear that you consider the time you spent with them as "wasted." Don't blame it completely on the sloop...sounds like Meg helped.
