Too Many Weapons locked behind Team Play

I struggle to get some of the best weapons in the game because it is locked behind team play activities like the Raids, Escalation Protocol, Trails, etc. I appreciate that when you have a team to play, you have a chance to receive these amazing drops. Yet, when you prefer solo-play, or find teams excluding you based on the absence of a specific weapon or level cap, or the random drop mechanic refuse to give you the Sins of the Past, this issue become a matter of deciding whether you want to continue or move on. Consider Bungie's advertising. What would we say if we heard that Destiny 2 is a great game wherein only teams will be awarded the best gear. Solo players are unwelcome. That, if you chose to play as solo player, you could be assured never to get some of the best weapons. That, to be an collector of gear, you'll never have access to majority of the gear. That, as solo player you will always be killed by the weapons you can't ever access as solo player. That, even if you make time for team activities, the 'hobby' drop rate will ensure you'll never get what you need. That, instead of giving you what you want when you eventually play as a team, you'll receive repeated drops of the stuff you all ready have. Want to play our game? Suggestion 1: Please enable a vendor to sell the weapons locked behind team activities. These weapons can be expensive (like 50,000 glimmer for a weapon purchase by a faction that losses). In teams activities they drop for free (other than time), but through a vendor mechanic, at least you can access them. Suggestion 2: Enable a grind mechanic wherein these weapons could be gained via fulfillment of a bounty system you pick up at a vendor (look at the weapon wheel in Curse of Osiris). This single issue (accessibility of great weapons locked behind team activities with horrible drop rates) has demotivated my previous clan, and caused them to "move on to other games". I know your purpose is to make this a "hobby" but you are doing this at a cost of solo players, collectors, and those that can't make this a hobby.

  • What if it’s you thats the problem ? Why should the raiders suffer cause weenie like you are scared to play with randoms ? The best loot should come from the hardest things to do and if you are so STUBBORN to utilize the RECRUITMENT SECTION OF THIS APP YOU ARE USING then maybe you don’t deserve the loot

    • No. You want high end gear? Do hard content. Here's the Fireteam section. Have fun.

    • No, shouldn't even be considered. Those activity specific gear, and weapons are the reward for doing those activities. They are why you want to do those activities. Your idea takes the whole premise of that away. Why take on a harder challenge in the end game, when I can piss and putter around, and then buy it at a vendor? The excuse of I'm a solo player is a weak one at best. People act like it's some sort of disease. The kind where there is no cure, or fault. There is nothing wrong with playing solo, but not all activities in the game can be played solo. For those activities, you need to get a team together. Which is something you can do if you want to do those activities.

    • I am mainly a solo player and I do not want access to all gear. Not everyone should be able to get everything, unless you do what it takes. I would love some Trials or Raid gear but considering I do not want to do either, such is life. I really wanted EP armor, ended up doing a couple 9 man runs. Hooray, now I have gear. That is how it should work.

    • did you collect all adept trials weapons and all raid weapons in d1? i dont get how this is an issue for you now.... 4+ years into the franchise. to your point, i do wish bungie would bring back crucible bounties that dropped weapons from trials and IB. those were fun to complete. as well, the old system of raid rewards should be brought back. (i.e.: ex machina could only ever drop from vosik, could only get a helmet from aksis pt 2). both of these things would alleviate the problem you described.

    • I see your point but I don't agree. Solo players have plenty of content. You may not be able to get ALL of the exotics if you don't play all aspects of the game, but you can still get quite a few... and they're not bad weapons. I hate to say that I agree with those players who are saying that the best weapons should be reserved for those playing all aspects of the game. However, I feel where you are coming from as I used to be strictly solo and only recently joined an active, supportive clan. It's difficult to really experience the full game if you don't have a team to play with, but I think that's sort of their intention... perhaps Destiny just isn't your game?

    • Destiny is not a solo player game. It’s a coop game. Go play Fallout or Skyrim if you prefer to Lone Wolf. If you don’t complete end game activities that require fire teams then you don’t get access to the weapons that possibly drop. Sucks to be you but that’s fair. You want the Sins of the Past then grind the raid. You’ve got 6 chances per week to get it.

    • The hardest most pinnacle activities should have the best weapons. If you choose to play solo in a game designed to be played with a group then you are choosing to not get those weapons. Anyone can put an ep group together its easy. I just load into patrol exit and reload till I find an instance with people willing to play not that difficult to do

    • Bungie tried with Destiny 2 easy loot and game until Warmind was utter garbage. Literally nothing to do if you can buy that carrot on the stick. So no, Bungie should do leveling even harder and longer with almost impossible gear to obtain. There must be a reason to play other than piff paff 15 min before sleep.

All your characters are above 370 and are therefore capable of finishing all activities in the game. Spire of Stars and the last wave of Escalation Protocol will be hard but doable. I used to be a solo player. I was extremely shy and afraid to talk to anyone or show my voice to anyone, and I played everything alone because of that.
or find teams excluding you based on the absence of a specific weapon or level cap
This line here leads me to understand you're not a solo player, you're just lazy and ignorant. You can MAKE YOUR OWN GROUPS without those requirements instead of trying to join another person's group. There's a "Create Fireteam" button for a reason. Use it and you can do whatever you want with whatever requirements you want!

      • 1) I don’t have a team and play solo and use lfg for every single encounter. I’ve beat all raids 20+ times including prestige and have all nightfall and EP rewards. You’re just lazy or don’t know where to look. Since you aren’t on my platform I can’t help you. Plenty of people also look for sherpas 2) No weapons are that good that are locked behind endgame stuff. You can get curtain call or braytech rocket which are basically the same as sins. You also can get sins of the past by going into raids solo and collecting tokens from challenges. Turn them in and you can get weapons (only normal leviathan drops) including sins. 3) light level is a legit reason to be denied if you are not above the recommendation. That said max light is only useful for EP and prestige nightfall. 4) the game is pretty clearly made towards team activities, if you don’t like that then destiny is not your game.

Bungie made it clear with Destiny that their “vision” was co-op, group play. It was no big secret. I hate socializing with online people, or even irl people, but I bought it anyway because of matchmaking. Now I just sign up on games on the 100.io website. Although I still hate the social aspect of the game, the people there are pretty cool, most are patient and they address all skill levels. Just last night I signed on to a clan teaching the 1st raid lair. I’ve never done it though I’ve done every raid up to Warmind. We completed it, I learned the mechanics and got me a new, raid specific shotgun. Easy peasy. Ran a raid this morning. We knocked it out quick and we did EP. I’ve never done it, and now I got a EP specific shiny new shotgun. Lotta fun too.

      • Why don’t you just find an active clan to join? That’s the fa easier thing to fix.
