Question on possible network fixes...might be my fault?
PROBLEM
My boyfriend and myself play on the same network. We are always having problems getting EEL, BEAVER, and ANTEATER errors, but mainly at night. I ran a speed test and my download speed is fine, but my upload speed is 1/20th of what it should be. This is only at night. This is a known issue with the ISP. Said ISP is the best one in this town.
RESEARCH
I read on the Network Troubleshoot Guide (NTG) that I could either 1. Set up port forwarding (which I already have enabled for my PC for Remote Desktop purposes), or 2. Enable UPnP. Problem with enabling UPnP is that the last time it was enabled, it was the cause of our problems, and when I disabled it, it fixed it. Now we live in a new area and we're having problems again. The Advanced NTG also said:
Players that plan to use more than one console to play Destiny on the same network simultaneously will encounter connection issues when using Port Forwarding. Players are required to use UPnP to play Destiny on more than one console on the same network simultaneously.
PLEASE HELP!
I am at a crossroads of whether I am able to just use port forwarding, or I have to enable UPnP. I really don't like the idea of enabling UPnP, and I really don't want to have to worry about disabling it every time we get off and enabling it every time we get on.
