I own the Season pass. So its not an issue for me personally, but it is abit of a "F*ck you" to alot of the community. Specificly those who waited and passed on COO and WM. And even more so, those who just bought Warmind. Not requiring Cure of Osiris ownership for Warmind heavily implied it would not be required for any future DLC.
The fact that it is now for the new DLC is rather insulting and underhanded. You just keep taking one step forward, then 1 and 1/2 steps back. I am aware that they announced there will be a bundle with all DLC, but it will cost EVEN MORE then $40.
Likely it will be an "all or nothing" bundle with the Season Pass($40), Forsaken DLC($40), and the Annual Pass($30-$40) for like $100 or some junk.
Dont get me started on the "Annual Pass" BS as well. From whats been revealed so far about it (namely how they discribe the content themselves as "events"), it looks like they are just taking seasonal free event content and paywalling that as well. Its just wrong. You have to see that.
Dont get me wrong: The DLC itself looks amazing, and seems like it will fix ALOT of whats wrong with the game. But the paywall to A GAME FIX (that also happens to be a DLC) is way too high.
What would i like to see? How would i propose a fix for this?
1. Include the first 2 DLC's into forsaken and keep the price at $40. That will insentivise ALOT more people to come back to the game. And would actually be worth the money.
2. Cut the price of the Annual Pass to $20.
3. IF 1 and 2 are impossible, then ADLEAST make the new DLC not require the old ones.
And dont cry about how that wont be enough to fund development or that they wont turn a profit. The worst effect it will have on the bottom line will be the CEO or whoever not being able to get the Dimond seat cover for his golden toilet in his 37th new jet.

General reply: i see that here my views are in the minority.
1. yeah i have nistalgia goggles on.
2. D1 was a hot mess as well.
3. i miss-remembered some aspects in D1. (no raid in House Of Wolves, among others)
4. im too stupid/lazy/ignorant to be able to rebuttle everyone here. Heres a link to a subreddit that seems to cover both sides of the arguement:

If this isnt allowed or something, then tell me and ill remove the 3rd party link.
i wanted to voice my opinion to the community and to the Dev team. And more importantly: what i would like to see realisticly done to remedy the issue. sorry for coping out like this. Guess i just have thin skin. hope you can adleast find some interesting viewpoints at the link above. have a good night.

You could play Warmind without Curse of Osiris because Warmind didn't involve anything on Mercury. You need CoO & Warmind because Forsaken is going to involve Mercury & Mars. Like how in D1 you needed Dark Below to play Taken King because you literally went into the area that the Dark Below Raid took place in.

I'm pretty certain they just confirmed next year's content and names, in the annual pass and not what it actually contains. So how about we all calm down and see what happens first, no one if forcing you to buy it.

The first 2 DLC's weren't garbage though. New guns, planets, ships, armor, strikes, raid lairs, and more...what do you want from a DLC? A whole new game?

What I don't get is why all these business models have to be so shady and confusing, when we all know the fundamental problem that underlies them: AAA video game development is more expensive and risky than ever, and developers and publishers want more money. That's fine, just come out and say it. If Bungie just flat out said, "Hey, we believe Destiny is a product worth much more than the traditional $60 game, so we're going to charge $100 per year to stay current with the latest updates." How much simpler and less offensive would that be? I realize a lot of people wouldn't buy it then because they'd rather just buy a $60 game. But this game clearly isn't for those people. Bungie is developing a game that they want to charge $100 per year for, and the people on board for that kind of experience are the ones it should be marketed for. Instead, they're trying to dip their toes in all the waters, and just end up ruining their good name so that the future of the franchise is in danger. People aren't going to buy this lie of an excuse that microtransactions and such are needed for funding. That's all profit. And that's okay. The company is allowed to want to make profit. Epic Games wants to make profit very much, and are not ashamed of that. You don't see anybody complaining about Fortnite's business model. Because they're just delivering a good game at a fair value, not trying to swindle and cheat their customers at every turn.

Someone, any minute now, will reply to your post stating that your logic has no merit because COO and Warmind were DLC and this new content is not, it is an expansion, not a DLC like you are stating. I say that I don’t give a crap what label they put on the content, and I will go a step further and say it should just be free, if you just even bought the base D2 game, because of the rancid garbage content we have been playing since 9/2017. I don’t even consider this an expansion, a DLC or new content. It’s just a damn patch. They are finally getting around to fixing real shit after 7 months of jerking around stupid ideas of emote wheels and masterwork bandaids. So Bungie has moved on to some new project and left a few interns behind with Vicarious Visions to manage Destiny. Who gives a shit, just don’t try to suckle even more money from the players as you abandon the game and admit you released a terrible product 7 months ago, plus 2 terrible follow up DLCs not worthy of trying to force on anyone.
