[/quote] Is it so far fetched to think he would leave his ship on Mars as either a misdirect, or with something in the logs to point to where he was going. Or Mars could be where he was captured and they transported him to Earth. They way it is worded he was transported somehow since he thought they would take him to a Ketch not Earth. What it is doing in the cave. That cave is also a Lost Sector full of Cabal. They could have found it and dragged it in there to study away from Rasputin and the Hive.
