For both guns (only hard light for me cuz Xbox), the following forces an element swap:
-reviving
-scanning
-starting patrol/ep/adventure
-and certainly more
Furthermore, death or starting any new activity defaults the element back to void.
It gets increasingly annoying to have to deal with this. Especially if you most frequently use arc like me. If this could be fixed and an option to set a default element was added alongside the swap mechanic (like hard light used to have), that would be excellent.

Agreed... The Element change should not activate if there is a prompt on the screen to Revive, Scan, Open a chest.... any of thoes.

It would also be nice to be able to set the starting type as every time you swap gun it resets to void and my character is set up for solar so I keep having to swap it before shooting and it takes the fun out of quick gun changes.

Should just make it double tap like the Hunter dodge.

I was an absolute fan boy of Hard Light in D1 and so wanted to have it in D2. But since this rework of the reload changing the element I've hardly used it. I personally would prefer it to be kinetic with a big reduction in the screen shake to what it is currently. R.I.P Hard Light (your wiv da angles now sweet prince) 😔

When in crucible and your sword or rocket ammo becomes available is a total pain with HardLight as it changes every time you collect the ammo. This is doubly a pain when your playing a fast paced game and trying to complete challenges. Please put Hard Light change ammo type back to the way it was, there was no risk of Accidentally changing it.

Death and fast travel are legitimate complaints. Otherwise, switch your weapon before holding reload to interact with some other portion of the game.
