We’ve had a a thread or two about this game, but it seems like there’s maybe two people here nowadays who are familiar with Battletech. Either that, or they’re all too busy playing Battletech and I’m being weird by posting about Battletech on B.net and painting Necromunda models instead of playing Battletech. I guess this thread exists to see which of these two ideas are true.
That, and to describe Battletech to people. Battletech is a turn based strategy game in taking place in a long running tabletop franchise universe also named Battletech. This universe is known primarily for it’s Battlemechs, which are big pipedal tanks piloted by singular individuals called mechwarriors (hence the name of the spinoff series Mechwarrior). In this game, you command a mech-based mercenary company on the periphery of known space, hired to take back a kingdom after a brutal coup.
Who’s playing this? Who just heard of it? Who wants to chat about it or the Battletech universe as a whole? I could also accept some mechwarrior discussion.

It’s something I’ve definitely looked at, but I’m generally pretty busy at the moment and I still have XCOM2 to keep me busy in the turn based strategy genre. I’ll probably pick it up at some point in the next couple months.

I saw a youtuber I watch playing it and fell in love. One of my favorite types of games, and done well. Plus it gives me mechassault 2 nostalgia, since they’re based on the same thing

What is Battletech? Where is Battletech? Why is Battletech?
