It's just as simple as the title (and the rest of the Destiny community) says. We need matchmaking for raids. It is far too difficult to wrangle up 6 people to play that are both willing and able to run one.
How is it that I have 2 characters fully leveled up and nearly at the power cap, and still haven't done Leviathan once? It's certainly not from lack of trying. And if you do manage to get a team of 6 together, and one lags out partially through, you're up that creek without a paddle.
It's just not right, and we need matchmaking for all group games. I can't imagine why there isn't already.
Thank you

You're right, its just not right... Its a nightmare. Picture this scenario: You matchmake for a raid, here are your 5 other team mates 1) The Control freak: Thinks that because he is a higher light level, he is a god at the raid and can make callouts and tell people what to do. Half the time his decisions are wrong and the other half, his callouts are wrong. Dies first every encounter and demands a wipe. 2) The mute: No mic? No Probl- Yes, theres a problem with that. Its one thing to do Strike/nightfall runs sans mic, but its near impossible to do a raid in a matchmade team without a mic. Skilled or not, you need to be able to communicate with your teammates. 3) Where is he getting all of his cheetos?: You know him, the guy that always seems to have a bag of broken glass, drywall nails and gravel beside him. I have my own food thank you, i dont need to hear you eating yours. 4) Hey guys I have to go eat dinner i'll be back on in 10 minutes: Whenever i hear this, I know that its the end of the raid, nobody, especially a team of randos wants to wait for you to scarf down your dinner. You should've chosen a more opportune time to raid rather than right before dinner. 5) I've never done it before but I've watched a video so I'm basically a pro: Ever wonder why some people resort to matchmaking? Its because nobody will give them the time of day to play with them ever again. i'd rather not spend 8 and a half years on an encounter just because you watched somebody else play the game. Sure, every team has these at some point or another. But its much more efficient to post on the forums or make friends, than to matchmake and potentially have MULTIPLE of these types of people on your team

have you tried guided games?
-
I understand your frustration but honestly you would be Much more frustrated with raid matchmaking.

Edited by JoEwillkillu91: 3/13/2018 10:12:15 PMYou just said you wanted people that were able to do it. Do you really think most of the people you find will actually be able to do it? Then theirs the mic issue. Then what if somebody leaves? Raid matchmaking probably won't ever work.
-
I think everything should have matchmaking. Communication is key, yes and yes often the raid will hit a dead end. So what? It is essentially a built in LFG to group like minded players. If one player is causing probs, the other 5 can group up and go back in and matchmake again. The LFG method is a long winded method that carries its own problems.
-
You already have that, just try using it. Guided Games is one way. LFG is another way. Joining a clan is a third way.
-
Good luck with that. I spent half the strikes reviving people because they don't know what they're doing. A match made raid group would be a nightmare.
-
I understand your frustration but communication on these raids is absolutely essential. Every aspect of the raid depends on being in constant communication with team mates. Even when you do get a full team together sometimes it is that 1 random player that means a simple task just doesn't get done. I have definitely been that person. I'm all for optional matchmaking for all activities however I do believe that for raids and trials it is worth getting a fireteam together.
-
so instead of taking the time to find five other competent players, you would prefer to be randomly matched with five people of unknown ability. look at what strikes give you, afk people, die every two seconds people, rarely a group that plays well together. no thanks.
-
They have to make raids less communication dependent. There should be more shooting instead of completing stupid raid mechanics every damn event.
-
6 people join a matchmaking raid with no mics, sounds fun.
-
Bad idea, no fire team will ever make it through...
-
thats what guided games are for, they had matchmaking back in vanilla d1 for the first month and it was horrible because it was all the no skill 12 year olds screaming over a damn mic, i know this because my first time and only time doing vog was this and it never want to raid until year 3 of d1

I think for Bungie, this is a move of self-preservation. See, many folks (myself included) believe without question that the great majority of experiences in a matchmade raid scenario would be horrible and negative. This fact coupled with another fact - that people in general are not mature enough to place blame correctly - means that Bungie would take most of the heat for this failed mechanism... So, I think since they know it would be a disaster and mostly used by people who would make it thus (willingly or otherwise), they avoid being blamed for another failure by not implementing it... That's just what I think though...
-
Nope. Nobody who wants to seriously do the raid will use it, matchmaking will be full of first-timers and dropkicks looking for a carry.
-
Lol this is satire right?
-
So I can have autistic blueberries use fighting lion on the Bathers right right? Or DPS the warbeast on the Pleasure Gardens? Or uses tractor cannon on the Standard Bearer? Honk honk, the Guardian Short bus is about to drive off
Point being it wouldn’t work
Hey if you have Xbox one then there is "looking for group" you can do it for any game you own. You can be pretty specific on what you're looking for. It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it.
-
Who is we? You do not speak for me.
-
Guided Games is the Matchmaking for all the endgame contents excluding IB and TotN
-
N... no.
-
You don realize that a lot of people complain about pvp matchmaking... and the raid would be a lot harder than pvp
-
you would have to enjoy playing with people who will not look up how to raid. People who don't have mics. People who will not be equiped with the right gear. It would be awful.
-
Have you raided with random strangers, before? It's not fun. Raids require too much teamwork to rely on random people helping you.
