The ampersand is the most useless of all symbols. It's more work than just writing 'and'. Try to prove me wrong. I dare you.

The symbol has history. The earliest uses are found on Roman papyrus dating back to 45 AD. et in Latin means and. Overtime they linked the e and the t. So I say keep it.
