Multple visual mock-ups and a write-up on how Grimoire CAN be added into the game.

Edit: If a mod can move this to the feedback forum (assuming that's where this belongs), that would it'd be much appreciated. MANY MORE IN DEPTH MOCK-UP SCREENSHOTS LINKED BELOW! I was overjoyed in the wonderful feedback I received here on my recent satirical video, so I decided to share my write-up and multiple mock-up images (which I shared a few months back) on how grimoire CAN be brought into the game. Many of us can agree that grimoire was a unique element of the original Destiny. It served quite a few purposes such as revealing lore and tracking overall progress. However, it always sat as an underlying, passive part of the game. This was was pretty great minus besides one main thing, "More info at Bungie.net" This message popped up with every card a guardian obtained. Now, keeping the cards out of the game was by no means the end of the world. However, I'd argue that it prevented a decent sized portion of the players from fully absorbing the story, especially in a game where that was unfortunately one of the most notable flaws. Some of these cards are beautifully written, telling stories of Destiny's more intriguing characters. Thankfully, many lore-fanatics within the community have pieced together and explained the lore by means of video or text. They have created structured and organized ways to tell the stories that many players could not find within the game itself. In terms of grimoire "score," this too was simply a passive variable in the game, fairly unimportant to most players. Though there were some who enjoyed it quite a lot and would intentionally grind out various tasks to raise their grimoire score. But yet again there was no way of checking on what these tasks were or how much the tasks have been progressed. The only exception to this was the sporadic progress pop-ups you'd usually get mid-combat. I feel this even furthered the gap between players and grimoire. Destiny 2 offers up a remarkable story and much improved lore (hidden scannables, lore on exotics, etc). *By creating this concept am I by no means saying Bungie did a poor job at implementing lore.* However, I was a bit surprised that they removed grimoire altogether instead of improving upon the system from its predecessor. So this mockup is my twisted vision on what it would be like if grimoire made it into Destiny 2. __________________________ MAIN GRIMOIRE SCREEN (same the topic picture) As you can see, in my probably farfetched world, a few taps of LB/L1 will take you to the new "Lore" menu. It'll show you your current grimoire score along with the number of unlocks (which would be equivalent to when you hit a "milestone" of grimoire progression in D1). These unlocks are worth a certain amount of grimoire, and are also where you can view the lore. You can easily get to these through the categories and submenus listed on screen. NOTE: There are numerous ways these can be categorized and broken down. My way is just one of many. So what does it look like progressing into the lore menu? I worked up four examples to hopefully get my general thoughts across: ______________ GRIMOIRE: Fallen Public Events ______________ GRIMOIRE: Sparrows _____________ GRIMOIRE: Hunter Grenades _____________ GRIMOIRE: Vex Harpies _____________ The basic idea for each sub-category is to have tiered challenges that can generally be accomplished by playing the game normally (in a few cases I got a little creative and this may not quite be the case) I find this to be very important, it allows grimoire to still take the role of an underlying element of the game, with the option to focus on it if one pleases. Each tier unlocks a little bit of lore. Then possibly the 3rd tier can give an additional reward (emblem or something, who knows. I do not think this should apply to every single grimoire category, that'd be a bit much with rewards). Anyway, I said I would not make this a huge wall of text so I will end with a few final notes about this mock-up: - Many of the numbers I used are arbitrary within reason. I am not saying these are completely balanced challenge numbers or grimoire rewards. - Same goes for the challenges themselves. I tried to add some creativity to each one while keeping them relevant and able to be obtained passively (most cases). However, they are more-so general ideas. - I do not necessarily think the unlocked lore always would have to be directly relevant to the subject matter. This was sometimes the case within the first Destiny. Though, I feel they should at least have an indirect relevance. My "hunter grenade" grimoire made me think of this. I do not think there can be 3 solid pieces of lore about hunter grenades (but who knows). - I also realize matching the amount of lore stories/tibits with the arbitrary "184" unlocks is probably a bit much. I try to make these concepts within reason and I feel that may be a stretch. - The quotes next to the images are simply fun flavor text relating to the subject. - I added the "secret" category on the main page because I feel it would be neat to unlock secret unlisted lore by doing precise tasks. Perhaps also unlocked by scannables? Either way, the general idea would be that they are completely hidden. - I imagine these lore stories to look similar to examining the lore on an exotic. Bungie did an amazing job with this. That'll wrap it up. Thank you to anyone who beared with me and spent any time reading through this and checking out these concepts. As always, feedback and thoughts are appreciated.
