Ok, so I know this D1 perk (extra throwing knife) was replaced by the general Class Ability for Gambler's Dodge but I feel like that's been more beneficial in making the Arcstrider a tank than to replace what Gunslinger had going for it. They get that whole melee/dodge chain going and tbh it's a thing of beauty but poor Gunslinger needs some love.
I find dodge/melee works great for Arcstrider because it's an actual melee attack but the throwing knife is a ranged attack and odds are it won't trigger when I'm getting pushed by ads. Instead I'll just get the standard knife attack animation and now my dodge is recharging so I'm in a pretty bad spot. Not to mention the health regen the Arcstrider is getting... And as for Nightstalker, well, he gets invis out of his dodge and he's usually safely outta there.
Also note that in D1 all hunters could get some form of invis from the Khepri's exotic... Again, poor Gunslinger needs some love.
It would be great to see the skill tree revamped or even get an exotic in dlc2 to help with this would be nice.
If anyone has found a good rhythm of attacks for Gunslinger which I've missed then please reply as I would love to hear about it :)
I also think it would make sense for Gunslinger to have some affinity with hand cannons and/or sidearms but whether that could or should be integrated with addressing the above issue I'm not so sure.
