Foetracer is an interesting exotic. Its exotic perk, Relentless Tracker, states that it;
Visually marks targeted enemies. Deals more damage to low-health marked enemies.
Not quite the clearest language if you ask me. Let me help clear up what the perk Relentless Tracker actually does.
When you place your reticle over an enemy within 100m they become marked with a large red X. This X is visible through all terrain, allowing you to keep track of your marked target even through walls. However if you look away from a marked enemy (remove your reticle from them) the mark begins a five second timer. If five seconds expires the mark is removed, even if the target is still on screen. Looking directly at a marked target will reset the timer to five seconds and the timer won't start again until you stop looking at them. In addition to this only one enemy can be marked at a time. Looking at another enemy will instantly remove the mark from the previous enemy and add it to the new enemy.
What about the damage buff? Now here's what makes Foetracer interesting. An enemy is classified as "low health" when they reach 30% of their total health. Once they've reach low health for every 1% of health they lose the player gains 1% of extra damage, all the way up to 30%. That means at 29% enemy health the player deals 1% extra damage. At 5% enemy health the player deals 25% extra damage. This makes your damage ramp up the weaker an enemy is. This buff of course applies to all damage by the player including supers and abilities, and stacks with all other buffs and debuffs.
Due to the nature of its ramping damage Foetracer is best used with weapons that have high firerates such as automatic weapons like Auto Rifles and Submachine Guns or Burst fire weapons like Pulse Rifles and Fusion Rifles. Weapons that deal high damage per shot like Handcannons, Scout Rifles, and Sniper Rifles will get little use out of Foetracer as the extra damage will often go to waste as overkill unless the enemy has an exceptionally large health pool like a boss.

I actually use this in both PvP and PvE and found that with Coldheart, you can beam people. Lucky Pants used to be my no.1 favorite but is now at no. 2 because of how good this exotic is. If you have a teammate with Ward of Dawn and Lumina, and you with High Energy Fire, Whisper of Hedrons, and a big target, you can ramp the damage from a minimum (when Foetracer activates) of an 86% damage increase to 115% buff. That is really good.

My main exotic right now I love its synergy with Bad Juju, nightfalls are a breeze now Works with other weapons just as fine though as long as they are pulse rifle, SMG, auto rifle, trace rifle and worked fine with wendigo (grenade launcher) I'm using it in PvE... I don't PVP that much

Edited by n1njachikin5914: 2/19/2019 6:36:14 PMDefinitely not worth the exotic spot, with better hunter exotics such as Shards of Galanor, The Dragon Shadow, and even Gwisin Vest. Don't bother buying it.

Does this effect the dot from Le monarch? I.e will the dot increase as the enemies health gets lower?

I wish this could compete with one eyed mask

I've used foetracer for a long time(my first exotic). The helm is good for most situations. It will help you dodge a boss after ducking and hiding or it will give you the edge in a pvp gambit sniper duel. The bonus damage in boss fights, well events, nightfalls is pretty OP too. I run sniper/bow/sword; specced mobility. To the OP, thanks for the numbers :)

These are the kind of posts I miss. Great info 👍👍

I never understood the reasoning behind causing increased damage to low health enemies. They are low on health therefore easier to kill. Why do I need extra damage to finish then off? Ugly waste of an exotic.
-
Great to see a helpful post, thank you! I never use Foetracer but I'm tempted to give it another go now, maybe even dust off Gunslinger, my old D1 fave :)

Edited by Black Magic: 2/11/2018 5:19:01 AMBungie should let you play test current and future exotics. You seem to be able to break down gear to a way that people can better understand what the game tells you. Bungie should be doing stuff like this but no, put all the load on the players

Brings a tear to my eye a good post, a helpful post. A detailed informative post. Yeah those changes to accessibility were a terrible idea weren't they salt miners!

Great post! Thanks for the good info. This is what the forum should be like.

Nice helpful post. Like my granpappy once said. "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile"
-
But did you use the Gjallarhorn?
In the voice of David Attenborough
And here we see the Helpful Post in the wild. Once a thriving species, the Helpful Post's numbers have dwindled in recent years, mainly since the introduction of Saltys and GitGuds that are invasive species and have since, become the most pervasive predators of the Helpful Post. Unfortunately the Helpful Post is not equipped with many defences, instead it tries to ignore a hungry Salty or GitGud. Sometimes after a bit of a struggle, Saltys and GitGuds will tire, and move onto bigger prey, thus allowing the Helpful Post to continue on its way.

Wtf is Foetracer? Here's some trivia: What was Foehammer?

Edited by Erijian: 2/12/2018 5:09:50 AMIsn't this from Reddit? Oh you're the OP lol nvm. Not used to actually seeing helpful things like this come from the forums these days.

I actually think it works excellently with handcannons in PvP for timing your shots (you can see when the marked targets are moving out from behind cover).
-
Yeah but, you get to look like a Biker Scout.

This belongs in feedback

Edited by Architect Mind: 2/10/2018 8:58:37 AMOh shit Prometheus lens and foe tracer...gonna have a cook off now. I mean mainly PvE side, PvP is kinda hit or miss, but sounds like fun. I really do think I just shit myself.

You could have just typed that Foetracer is absolutely useless and you should never use it.
