Yesterday I watched a community fall apart. The community that is Offtopic, a community that is truly one of a kind. I watched as people panicked for their own survival. With very little time to react, Bungie announced something that would change the world of Offtopic forever. But even as the world collapsed around us, we stood together. Offtopic is more than just some crummy subforum, its a community No... Offtopic is a family We don't need this site to survive, all we need is to stick together. We are the people of Offtopic and we will survive as a family regardless of what is thrown at us. Many call this subforum a home, it is truly heartless of Bungie to kick us out like this, but we will survive. It may not be here, but home is not where we began, home is wherever we decide it to be. I have only been active on b.net for about a year and a half now, in my time I experienced so much. I learned about the rich culture that lives here. I learned about the traditions such as porch day. I got to witness the Clockman discovery and the story behind it. I was able to witness some of the greatest shitposts around. I got to learn about the many discord servers that branched off the Offtopic tree and how they constantly competed for dominance over Offtopic. I learned of legends who had long abandoned the forums, and I watched new legends be formed. All of this sat behind the curtain completely out of view of anyone who didn't care to take part in this family. I pity those who didn't have the opportunity to experience this world. It has been a very enriching experience, but it most certainly will not end here. It is clear we can't stay on b.net, Bungie has made it very clear that they do not want us here. I fear what will happen next if we stay. But now the question remains, what next? I think we can all agree that it is time to move on from this site. Some people have already left. I've heard rumors of people leaving to sep7agon and sapphire in search of a new forum that welcomes their shitposts. Most users have made their move to one of the many Offtopic discords. Someone even made a subreddit (r/BnetOffTopic). In time I'm sure we will all cross paths once more.
