I don’t know if this topic has ever been brought up before, but I thought it would be fun to talk about.
This random thought has entered my mind a couple of times: if Rasputin and Charlemagne are both named after historical figures, what other ones might there be? Well, I’m certainly not here to speculate about that, mainly because there's very little info on the Warminds already. But with the inevitability of Rasputin's reappearance in Gods of Mars (and who knows, possibly Charlemagne) looming over the horizon, I’ve wondered. Who do you guys think would make a good Warmind?
There should be some rules set. Don’t worry, not huge ones, but:
1. By "historical figure" I don’t necessarily mean people from ancient history. For the purposes of this post, the people who qualify should be in modern history, but not the modern day. Think anyone before the 2000s of some significance.
2. Trying to fit the pattern with names here, base your ideas off of people known only by one name. For example, the name "Stalin" is pretty synonymous with Joseph Stalin of the USSR. Don’t use a name with more than one meaning, like "Tesla", which could refer to the inventor, the coil, or the car, and don’t use names that could refer to several people.
Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from not following these rules. They’re just guidelines.
So here’s the bottom line:
Choose a historical figure you think would make a good Warmind.
If you really want to get into some OC shit, give your Warmind a personality that ties into their namesake, or a fictional history. (It seems that Rasputin might have been the only one with a personality since he was the special one who defied his programming, but for the purposes of this post let’s assume all of the Warminds have their own unique behavioral patterns)
Take this as far as you’d like to. Write a full-on character description for your fanmade Warmind, or just mention a historical figure that you think would be a funny AI. Whatever man.
Now for my own ideas:
The two historical figures I think would make good Warminds are Napoleon and Nobunaga.
I envision Napoleon, of course based on Napoleon Bonaparte, as similar to Rasputin, but slightly different. Obviously, instead of speaking in Russian and making references to Russian culture, he would use French. Napoleon might not be nearly as intelligent as Rasputin, but would have more sway over technology and speak more directly rather than being cryptic like Rasputin is.
Now, Nobunaga, inspired by the somewhat well-known ancient Japanese warlord Oda Nobunaga, could be a stark contrast. Instead of scheming, Nobunaga would be a more direct, animalistic force ravaging all of his enemies. He’d make reference to Japan for obvious reasons, and maybe even have a more Eastern aesthetic to the stuff he does. Maybe he'll even be considered a demon.
Have fun. Or post random salt. I don’t really care ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have this idea in my head of Cleopatra being a recycled older Warmind that was turned into a social mediator artificial intelligence used for communications and civil organization. I have absolutely no idea where it got into my head, but it has been there for a while. I imagine it being a bit slower and simpler, causing it to fall beneath Rasputin's notice as a lesser mind, but functioning in a way like The Superintendent seemed to in ODST before we found out it was an Engineer.

Edited by Makeshyft: 2/11/2018 11:28:22 PMCyrus the Great: Ancient Emperor of Persia (Achaemenid Dynasty) who unified the entire middle east and set the precedent for religious and social tolerance under imperial control. (which the Romans mimiced)The West isn't as directly familiar with him, though he was a main inspiration for Thomas Jefferson. He was known as the King of the Four Corners of the World. Timurlane (or Timur): A runner-up to Genghis Khan, Timur terrorized the asian steppes, northern Persia, and proto-Russia during the 14th century. He was famous for executing the population of every city he conquered and stacking their skulls in pyramids that sometimes rose 40-60 feet in height. Zheng He: A chinese muslim eunuch in service to Ming Dynasty. Under the orders of Emperor Yongle (heh) he led a series of "treasure voyages" from 1405-1433 around the Indian Ocean to explore, document, and establish trade if countries had anything China wanted. The IMPRESSIVE thing about him is the size of the fleet he commanded: the first expedition had a whopping 317 ships (many of which were 3 or 4 stories tall) each crewed by 500-600 men. The fleet had a population of (estimated) around 27,000 men, which was larger than the population of most of the ports they stopped in at the time. Zheng He commanded the greatest naval fleet of early modern history. Mansa Musa: A legendary king of Mali (African Kingdom) who was so rich he went on tour to show everyone and ended up ruining the economy of Egypt and the surrounding states. Chandragupta Maurya: Emperor of the Mauryan Empire of India. According to legend, he was a devout Jainist and after uniting the Empire he gave up his position and wealth and become a monk. Regardless, his empire stretched the entirety of the Indian continent, with the exception of a few small principalities in the south. Considering the greatest empire of ancient Indian history. :D If you couldn't tell, I like history.

Hatshepsut, the erased pharaoh. She could be the force that sent Sagira to Osiris, and because she is ahead of her time, it could be that she incorporated Vex tech into her architecture. Rasputin of course attempted to erase all historical references to her, fearing contagion and disruptive influences.

Well Cleopatra would fit in with the Egyptian theme they've been using. Also I think Spartacus would be cool.
