I haven't purchased the DLC for D2 as I've almost completely stopped playing and DLC1 everyone is saying is so bad. I visited Xur today to find that all the New exotics are now blocked to me where before I was able to buy the Prometheus Lens from him and also got the Mk. 44 Stand Asides from an engram but clearly now Bungie has blocked these new exotics for players like me.
Funny how Bungie hasn't blocked obtaining the items added with DLC1 to Eververse, so we are free to buy silver and receive those new items without the DLC. Clearly it appears unless you hand more wads of cash over to Bungie don't think you are getting anything new. This is not as low as the stunt they performed when DLC1 was released of locking existing content behind the DLC paywall but it feels very similar. Checking Xur every week was one of the few things the kept me with any engagement in this game and a reason to keep D2 installed on my PS4 but now there is almost no reason at all to log in.
I think this example of again locking more content off behind a pay wall will backfire on Bungie as there is probably many players like me that are holding back hoping Bungie will fix this broken game before we invest more money and time in D2. By blocking Xur off to players like me makes it more likely that we will completely withdraw from D2. Bungie may yet go on to fix D2 and it could end up being greater than D1 ever was, but how many players like me may never return or follow on over to D3 (if that ever is made), thanks to dumb decisions like this example. Its a small trade off; let non-DLC players get few new exotics from Xur and keep them playing or cut them off completely and watch them all walk away. So dumb move Bungie, just further piss off players who are already super pissed off with this game.
PS. To any trolls who undoubtable will attack me telling me not to be cheap and just buy the DLC, my answer is no, not until I see some real progress in fixing this broken game.
