Simple: Keeping some Heavy slot variants of each weapon type in the Heavy slot (Power slot whatever), and put some Heavy weapon variants into the Energy slot.
It's as simple as recoding certain weapons to fall into the Energy slot, while keeping heavy hitting snipers, shotguns, and fusions in the heavy slot.
One example would be Hawthorn's shotgun.
It's fast firing, and sometimes doesn't kill Guardians in one hit. Just need to lower the damage a little bit to give it a little balance.
Another is Legend of Acrius. The true heavy hitter of all shotguns. Can kill any super-use in one shot. This beast can kill a Nova Bomber mid-throw. Should obviously stay in the heavy slot.
This eliminates the one-shot problem with Special weapons, but keeps certain types desirable for either slot.
Fast firing, lower damage for Energy
Heavy hitting and longer range for Heavy.
This also gives even more loadout variety in comparison to what D1 had. With this system, you can have a hand cannon, a shotgun, AND a sniper.
You now can have any, and I mean ANY weapon combination.
Please upvote this, this is a great chance for Bungie to keep the game balanced, but still keeping it as fun as HoW D1. Remember that Golden Age of Crucible?
