So I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz recently about both these games that have been highly anticipated for a while now. The main thing I’ve noticed though is that most of the buzz around Cyberpunk is rumor and speculation from fans with no real hype coming from CDPR themselves, but Death Stranding is being hyped to hell by Kojima himself.
We know basically nothing about either one, but based off of how CDPR is staying quiet I would say they seem more confident in their game and it will probably turn out better.
Death Stranding is showing all the signs of past hype trains that have crashed and burned.
Edit: To clarify, I’m asking which one you think will end up being great, or which one will be better.
Edit 2: I’m seeing a pattern in some of the replies. I realize they are two different games. I’ll repost this reply
They are different games, yes, but there are similarities so far that I felt were interesting enough to compare.
For instance, both are highly anticipated, being hyped a lot, coming from respected devs but potentially very different from anything they’ve ever done, futuristic/sci fi games, and potentially both are RPGs.
I agree with sentiments below that both are fantastic devs who haven't told is anything solid about thier titles so forming any opinion will be pure speculation or fandom for your personal favorite. However thematically I prefer the Lovecraft-ian themes present in Death Stranding over the Cyberpunk setting. Much like my interest in AC Syndicate & my preference of Bloodborne over Dark Souls. Robots are cool, playing around with the sanctity of sentient AI is a thoughtful endeavor. But the terror of intangible entities, Extradimensional travel and straight up horror intrigues me more.

From what I've heard about Cyberpunk, it sounds like CDPR is taking some cues from Bethesda Game Studios. It's gonna be an open world RPG, and hopefully it'll be single player only. It'll have full character customizaton similar to Fallout and Elder Scrolls and it'll have first person and third person view points as well.
-
Death Stranding. I like the weirdness of it.
-
Cyberpunk is more my speed as Death Stranding seems too damned weird for my tastes but i'm not sure I want another FPS cyberpunk game after Deus EX.
-
That’s a very hard question to ask. Both have yet to show any gameplay, what we both know is they are both currently shooters of a type. With cyberpunk possibly being a first person shooter, if the rumors of cyberpunk getting a first person trailer in this years E3 are true, we’ll see more. Naturally, Death stranding setting is currently much more interesting, but if cyberpunk achieves that same feel as sort of early dues ex open world stages, but much MUCH larger, then Cyberpunk could be more appealing with its large in depth world
-
They'll probably both be good

Edited by Jones Burr: 1/17/2018 11:10:51 PMSorry, but the I’m a 34 year old American. I suffered though the overly Japanese plots of Kojima games for decades. Were they fun? Sure, but when any character starts talking it always makes me say to myself, “that is the dumbest motivation to do something I’ve ever heard.”
-
CDPR is being quite about cyberpunk might not have anything to do with them being confident about the game. It was rumored that all work prior to 2016 was scrapped. Regardless I think the game will be great
-
They are Gunna be completely different games. Kind of silly to compare them haha.
-
Isn't PS4 getting an exclusive demo for cyber punk 2077?
-
I have not got much of a clue about either game. Though I suspect that Cyberpunk might be a sc-fi open world type game. My reason behind this thinking, is that there used to be a pen and paper role playing game back in the day called Cyberpunk..
-
Neither. I have pretty much zero information about either game. No point in getting hyped or anything.
-
Death Strandings gonna look gorgeous no matter what. It's running on the Decima engine. That and it's back up by fantastic, still-current, developers, with a good recent record of smash hits. The only real hype for Cyberpunk 2077, is it's made by CD Projekt, who apart from The Witcher 3, no-ones realy ever heard of.
-
Literally two different games guy, no point in a comparison
-
Edited by Pyrus: 1/17/2018 4:25:58 PMNeither yet. I'll see what the gameplay's like first, then I'll know if either game's gonna be good.

Cyberpunk is from CDPR and they are unbelievably talented. I am hesitant about Death Stranding. I am sure Kojima Productions will have a better working relationship under Sony than they did Konami. With that said I worry Kojima demanded absolute freedom from Sony to lock Death Stranding under their publishing label. I am not sure how that will pan out.
-
Edited by renots6: 1/16/2018 7:29:56 PMKojima is a god amongst developers.
-
Edited by TonyPartridge30: 1/16/2018 12:12:14 AMBoth game creators have put out nothing but quality work in the past. Kojima like to tease his fans from early on, while CD Projekt Red seems to prefer keeping things close to the chest until near completion. In both cases we know very little about each game, but I see no reason to doubt either will be great, hype or no hype. I will say that I’m more excited for Cyberpunk because it will actually come to my platform.
-
I want Norman Reedus and the Funky Fetus but I’m not gonna buy a PS4
-
Hideo Kojima scares me.
-
Cyberpunk is allegedly gonna be at E3
-
cyberpunks concept (basically deus ex online) is interesting which is why i'm hyped but aside from something to do with oil and babies i don't really know what death stranding is gonna be about which is why i'm not as hyped but i might still get it if its good when it comes out
-
Wait.....idk I would think the people making it hyping their game are the ones more confident in its success since they have to confidence to tell everyone it is going to be amazing. While the others are just working hard on their game
-
Cyberpunk 2077 is at the top of my list, has been since I first heard about it. The Witcher series is my favourite set of games so i'm confident they can make an engaging game that will keep me playing for hours.
-
Cyberpunk 2077 cuz I trust CDPR
-
Neither, yet, need more info.
