I'm a casual from vanilla days. I don't have time to play a crazy amount and grind for the best gear anymore (i became a daddy late 2015 and a homeowner mid 2017)...
I really like destiny and feel i have missed out on things i really enjoyed in the past (raiding and nightfall etc).. I don't mind that i don't have time to play a lot... Just i hate being barred from end game content...
I literally just got to 280 and haven't complete a d2 nightfall nor even tried the raids... And i just don't have time to grind around for special gear etc... When i do have time to play, i want to do exciting things... Not grind..
Anyhow, just wondering what other people in my boat are doing... I really want to do the raids etc but i don't want it to be nearly impossible to play because of my level...
Hoping for some good discussion
Cheers

Yes d2 was built for the casual base. So long as you join a clan and collect the rewards from tower you'll hit 335 easy. Add in 3 heroic strikes and some public events on the flashpoint world and it's a quick path to max light without touching endgame

Honestly, D2 is much more casual friendly than D1 was. I’m also a dad (of 3,) married, own a business and a house. I’ve almost maxed out everything without ever stepping foot in the raid. I can’t commit that kind of time all at once. I’ve done one nightfall but it wasn’t enjoyable. Mostly I just log enough time to do a few of the weekly milestones and that has leveled me up.

Edited by gizzamaluke: 1/4/2018 7:43:17 PMI'm a somewhat casual player and still have a ton of fun - I completed the raid and a few nightfalls with a power level under 300. I think it's all about finding the right group of friends or a clan to play with. Also, to ease some stress, I've noticed that a lot of items with a time limit (for example, dawning gifts) reward with items that are purely cosmetic, so not being able to play daily really isn't a detriment. EDIT: IMHO, D2 is easier for casual players than D1.

You should be able to do the normal raid, I don't think it was raised up in level. There is no special gear you have to grind for, everything is basically the same. Its just a slow creep up to the light level cap. The only grinding situations you will run into are for the limited events, but they aren't necessary. If you get in with a good group that knows what they're doing, and can follow directions well, you should be able to complete the raid within 2 hours. The raid lair is much shorter. For now, I would focus on weekly milestones to raise your light level while trying to find a group to raid with. Its a good game for casual play, as you can tell from all the people talking about how there is nothing to do (there is plenty to do if you're a casual player).
