your examples are just....
pure garbage for the most part.
you cant take solo/offline games and throw them into any sort of the same category as mtx for online games and p2w online games. its just nowhere near the same thing as it does not effect anyone else.
as for WoW I've played off and on since 2006 and I remember when they first introduced in game items for real money. there was some controversy and fear of p2w. and over the years it has remained cosmetic pets, mounts, and tmogs. exception being the character boosting but even that has a hand full of restrictions and limits on it and doesn't put anyone at an advantage over someone else for using it.
main point towards WoW is they never lied about it. where as Bungie has slowly been including more and more than just the emotes that was originally all they said it was going to be for.
i believe the fact that bungie cant keep their shit straight is really the core of what the majority of these pissy players are actually pissed about.
as for WoW I've played off and on since 2006 and I remember when they first introduced in game items for real money. there was some controversy and fear of p2w. and over the years it has remained cosmetic pets, mounts, and tmogs. exception being the character boosting but even that has a hand full of restrictions and limits on it and doesn't put anyone at an advantage over someone else for using it.
Well, in comparison your pet is your ghost. Your mount is your sparrow. Tmogs are your exotic blueprints. Eververse does have an item that allows you to get more xp... But that being said, you should be able to get to max level (25) just by completing the story and a few strikes. (Level, not power level. XP does not help power level because once you hit 25 you only get more Eververse items for leaving up.) That being said, you do not have any advantage over other players with Eververse either.
main point towards WoW is they never lied about it. where as Bungie has slowly been including more and more than just the emotes that was originally all they said it was going to be for.
True, but that still doesn't make it ok does it? As Destiny currently is it is very similar as to how you explain WoW.
i believe the fact that bungie cant keep their shit straight is really the core of what the majority of these pissy players are actually pissed about.
I agree, but boycotting one game because of microtransactions, while there are others that you cannot even fully level up your team to max level without microtransactions, and others that are literally pay to win, wouldn't make sense unless you boycotted them as well. Nowhere do I say not to boycott. I simply point out that it isn't just a Bungie thing.

Edited by StupidSlinky: 1/3/2018 6:26:50 PMboycotting other games isn't an issue because this is the game people are playing or want to keep playing lol. i was about to say WoW pets are pure vanity items.. then I remembered their pokem- er.. pet battle system. i Have a couple store pets (gifts) and last I recall they don't seem all that different from normal pets other than looks so I'm not sure how it effects things really. ghost shells get perks and mods so moot point I guess other than pets dont effect the player directly ornaments are equivalent of tmog items. and sparrows = mounts unless bungie reintroduces SRL then you have the advantage of all the faster sparrows being EV
