Microtransactions in Mass Effect games are free. You can get them with credits earned from playing multiplayer matches. No one has to spend money on them unless they want to. In Destiny there is no way to obtain silver in game to obtain eververse items for those that actually want them, whether or not they're purely cosmetic. You are literally comparing apples to oranges.
