Pandrok, Pillar Of Nothing: Io Lost Sector Boss Analyzation

Recently, I played through an Io Lost Sector: Sanctum Of Bones, ran through it aimlessly until I got to the boss, but then I stopped and took a closer look. The boss is a Taken Knight, named Pandrok, Pillar of Nothing. Image Link:
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/destiny-2-io-lost-sectors-guide-8.jpg
For those who pay close attention to trending lore topics, some will know of the mystery of “what is Nothing?”. It appears in many places in the lore, such as Calus, and The Nine. The thing in question here is Pandrok’s title,”Pillar of Nothing”. Could this “Nothing” be the same as is referenced by Calus, and The Nine? Or is it just a name?

  • Nothing is the opposite of something. Naming nothing makes it something. Thus, that’s probably why that taken is named that. Maybe.

  • Pandrok is probably a powerful knight taken by Oryx and playing up now there's a vacancy until Savathun and Oryx return. The Nothing will just be it's title and a name for Pandroks followers. I don't think this is bungie re-writing The Darkness. I think they were saying (badly) that they didn't know 100% what The Darkness was but that was until Books of Sorrow were commissioned and The Darkness was revealed as the power beneath Fundament that bestowed the worms on what became Oryx, Savathun and Xivu Arath, and that the purpose of The Darkness is the final shape. Obviously I could be totally wrong. I hope that's what's happened and that after Destiny 2 they bother to make a game worthy of the lore.

  • This highlights one of my major frustrations with D2. Killing this enemy (and any other named Ultra) should unlock lore about it. Nothing fancy, even just a few sentences or flavor text level lore (though a complete grimoire entry would be the best). There is no context to any of these enemies. There is something to the term "Nothing". I could not recall ever hearing that term in D1, and can find multiple hits in D2. I think we might be witnessing the formal rebranding of the darkness to Nothing. Either that or bungie writers are watching too much Neverending Story....

    • It would be great if we had something that somehow logs our findings in the game. Some type of book or terminal that stores this information. I don't what it's called.... a Logsomething.... a somethingodex......eh whatever. Clearly it's not something that was requested for 3 yrs though.

    • I think there's a donut hole analogy in here somewhere.

    • The 'Pillar of Nothing' is a reference to how all the money that pours into Eververse goes towards nothing in the content development department.

Maybe “Nothing” is what Calus referred to as the void or “It”

      • Likely it has a little significance, but was added as a little piece of interesting lore. Still cool though. I love finding connections like this throughout the universe.
