Nope doesn't work. Inspect every exotic before handing them in, which isn't very often as they seem to have stopped dropping. Very occasionally if RNG is feeling nice I get something I want or something new unfortunately most of the time I either get something that wasn't shown or a duplicate. I know everyone is going to say it's down to RNG but we know Bungie can manipulate this if they want.
