If you don't know who Seth Dickinson is, he is the author of the Book of Sorrows in The Taken King expansion. And if you haven't read the Book of Sorrows, here is link to it. I've also gone ahead and written a summary of the first 15 pages out of 64 of The Book of Sorrows from the URL above. Enjoy... Or don't, I don't care. Book of Sorrows On a ravenous planet called Fundament there lives a species called the Krill. The story revolves around Xi Ro, Sathona, and Arash the three heirs to the Osmium King. The Osmium Court is locked in a civil war with the Helium Court who live on another continent. One night Toax, a Mother who Teaches the heirs to the Osmium throne, sends a secret letter to the Helium court to attack and kill the King and his children. The next day, the Osmium King was killed but his children escaped before meeting the same fate. Sathona takes her father's familiar, a white dead worm before fleeing. Before dying the Osmium King screamed and warned to his children of the moons and a cataclysmic event. After escaping the three siblings each made bloods oaths. Xi Ro swears to take back the Osmium throne and kill the traitor Taox. Sathona swears to become a mother and raise her spawn on the corpse of the Helium King. Aurash swears to follow her father's screaming warning and to learn of the moon's movement. And so they voyage out in their ship to explore, seek answers, and raise armies. Through Aurash's studies she learns that her father's warning was of all 52 of Fundament's moons lining up. The moons would cause a gravitational bulge on the ocean, which after the event would cause a god wave, wiping out all life on Fundament. But Aurash doesn't know when this event will happen and must find out. After sailing for a year the Three sisters came across The Needle Ship. They repaired the ship in 2 years and with the guidance of their father's familiar they used the needle to dive down into the ocean to reach the core of Fundament. The Needle dives in the ocean sailing past creature of colossal size and going further into the crushing ocean. The ship comes to resting stop were the three sisters sit and listen to all the noises the ocean has to offer. Xi Ro sensed a presence among them, something colossal. It was the Leviathan. The Leviathan communicated with the three sister trying to persuade them to turn back and not to go into the deep and be seduced by the darkness. But the sisters didn't and instead listened to their father's familiar, the white worm. They dove deeper down into ocean towards the core to see what lies within the deep.
