No, a placebo is something that makes you think it’s going to do something and your mind ends up doing it itself. The three of coins promise to do something (and that’s its intended purpose) and it doesn’t work.

You have no idea how placebos work. It’s a substance given to deceive patient thinking there is a therapeutic effect. Aka 3 of coins makes you think you are getting more exotics. But you don’t. Same as regular way. It’s simply a way to make you grind more shards.

You’re right, except for the fact that it’s not making me think that I’m getting more exotics

D2 gives out way too many exotics anyhow so 3 of coins shouldn’t even be here honestly. They ruined the grind in D1 for exotics by giving a way too generous boost. If your problem is bungie not telling you how much it increases, I’d agree with that. I’d be okay with it being a 1% increase if they told us that, but they like to be anti transparent.

No, you wouldn't be Ok if it increased by only 1 full percentage point. Here's why... If the normal drop rate is something like 4 out of 100 events gives an exotic. The 3oC raises that to 5. If you take an (made up) average of 7 minutes per event - that adds up to over 11 hours of game play. You need three 3oC to cover that, 75 legendary shards. 75 legendary shards and a shit ton of play to earn one extra exotic that's likely to be a duplicate. At that point you're better off saving your legendary shards to purchase the fated engram once a week from Xur. If that's the case what's the point of adding 3oC to the game? Now you know why people think these are a rip off and are disappointed in them.

As I stated, this game gives out way too much loot anyway so anything and extra just kills the little longevity it has. 3 of coins ruined the second half of D1 in terms of loot grind. No more special moments getting a cool exotic. Now if it was 1% and people have thousands of shards and don’t care about wasting some that’s fine for them too. Not a big deal, shouldn’t even be in this watered down, casual sequel in the first place 🤷🏻♂️

Yeah, that’s true. And yes, I have quite a problem with not knowing how much it increases the drop rate

This!!
