So I hate to complain but I gotta ask... Whats up with the exotics hunters are getting? Has anyone else noticed some serious favoritism being given to the other two classes his time around?
I mean what gives.
Before I get into exotics I would like to address the issues at hand for the nightstalker. Now I'm sure anybody who has been on the receiving end of shadow shot knows just how annoying it is to be snared. Shaxx calls overtime. This is your moment. You've been saving that sweet sweet fist of havoc for this. You lay into the L and R buttons like they owe you money and let slip the 10000 volt dogs of war as your enemie's smugness retreats from their bodies in the form of a warm trickle down their leg. But then BLAM!!! you're tethered... party's over...
Annoying, right? But have you seen how this story usually ends for the hunter that done it? I have. Dude usually goes down in a hail of gunfire before his bows even down. Time and time again. Because shadow shot isn't potent enough. Now I'm not saying that it's useless, nor do I want things swayed to favor anyone. But right now in a one on one fight, using shadow shot wont even guarantee a kill... let alone that your target wont kill you between the time it takes to fire it and it to actually activate. Now with the recent patch a direct hit will immobilize a target, yes... but is it lethal on its own? no sir, far from it... trappers get but a single, nonlethal, shot to make due with while if we look to any other super we're talkin instant death here. Fist of havoc alone has enough charges to kill an entire fire team, even if you choose to one at a time, and still have one good fifth slam left over. One variation of golden gun has six shots. And despite their ability to put targets down in a moments notice and let god sort em out later, shadow shot still can't. In fact for what its worth right now suppressor grenades are just about as effective in pvp. Providing immediate crippling abilities to all enemies in range with no drawn out animation or wait time for activation, every 83 seconds like clockwork. And oddly enough suppressors actually do damage too. But thats just in comparison to grenades and roaming supers. In contrast to the only other offensive one shot super, nova bomb, its still no contest. Being struck by nova bomb is like getting back with an ex, only leading to pain, shame and inevitably death (dead inside for the ex thing but ya get me). Where as takin the old skyrim joke to the knee with your mates by your side almost guarantees that the sap who shot it is gonna get a third nostril because even immediately crippling one target won't be enough to keep anybody else in the snare from killing you before, or even after, it activates.
I could go on but to sum up, I feel that for balancing things a bit better, shadow shot should have the ability to kill its target. No massive damage or over penetration thing. Just enough to take out one guy (or girl. I aint sexist, kill whoever ya want). And perhaps a slight boost to how quickly it suppresses enemies.
Now onto the exotics... to keep from rambling too much more I'll just show my points.
Hunter exotic:
Foetracer: visually marks targeted enemies.
Warlock exotic:
Eye of another world: highlights priority targets and improves the regeneration speed of your grenade, melee, and rift abilities.
Warlocks are given both improved tactical awareness and ability regeneration buffs.
Hunter exotic:
Lucky pants: increases hand cannon ready speed and briefly increases initial accuracy. Loads a single bullet to the chamber of a stowed hand cannon whenever the player scores a precision hit with any weapon.
Titan exotic:
Peacekeepers: reloads stowed submachine guns, and allows you to ready them instantly.
Titans are given increased readying speed and auto reloading while hunters have to work for every single bullet reloaded with headshot kills rendering that feature worthless. This exotics only upper hand is a couple seconds of slightly improved accuracy...
Hunter exotic:
Mechaneer's tricksleeves: sidearms ready and reload faster.
Warlock exotic:
Ophidian aspect: weapons ready and reload very quickly. Melee range is extended.
Warlocks get the same ready and reload buffs but for any weapon of their choosing while hunters are stuck with the smallest weapon type in the game. And while things end there for the hunter, somebody went ahead and decided that simply being a better version of the tricksleeves wasn't good enough and gave it a melee range buff too.
Hunter exotic:
The dragon's shadow: increases movement and weapon handling speeds for a short time after dodging.
Titan exotic:
Khepri's horn: solar damage kills recharge your Barricade, which unleashes a blast of Solar energy when summoned.
Warlock exotic:
Vesper of radius: rifts release an Arc shockwave when cast. Rift energy recharges faster when you are surrounded by enemies.
I don't think this one needs to be explained. Thankfully the gemini jester picks things up where the dragon's shadow dropped the ball but that doesn't change the fact that this exotic inparticular just can't compete.
As for health regeneration exotics there are the Insurmountable skullfort, Crest of alpha lupi and Karnstein armlets... Hunters got nothin.
Then there are Transversive steps, Lunafaction boots and Actium war rig which can all refill magazines of weapons in hand. But again, despite this seeming like something that'd blend to a hunter's very nature, no hunter exotic.
Now as for ability recharging hunters do have a couple. There is the pve wet dream known only as the orpheus rig and the recent re-addition of the graviton forfeit. The latter of the two only granting a slight melee recharge buff while you're cloaked. So your options are very few and limited to nightstalker. While for the others there is Khepri's horn (solar kills recharge barricade), Mk. 44 stand asides (Seismic Strike, Hammer Strike, or Shield Bash recharge melee), Insurmountable skullfort (arc melee kills recharge melee and health), Doom fang pauldron (melee kills recharge super) and Hallowfire heart (greatly boosts recharge of solar abilities while super is charged) for titans. And for warlocks there’s Vesper of radius (being near enemies recharges rift), The stag (being critically wounded recharges rift), Crown of tempests (arc ability kills recharge arc abilities), Eye of another world (boosts recharge of all abilities), Nezerec’s sin (void kills recharge rift), Skull of dire ahamkara (nova bomb grants super energy), Karnstein armlets (melee attacks grant health and ability energy), Sunbracers (grants grenade energy on melee hits) and finally Starfire protocol (fusion grenade kills grant rift energy). Also keeping in mind that the majority of these exotic have more perks than just recharge buffs...
Don't get me wrong. I don't mean to poke holes in this game because some of my favorite memories were made playing this with really good friends. I just think that some balancing is in order.
Easy changes in exotics may include:
-Altering Celestial nighthawk by exchanging its ability to make enemies explode with a slight super recharge buff. Seeing as its only real use is as a boss killer it really doesn't matter if the target explodes when it's killed or not since the mission would be over anyway.
-Adding priority target identification to Foetracer.
-Changing Graviton forfeit to give a slight recharge buff overall to melee rather than just when invisible.
-Changing Mechaneer's tricksleeves to ready and reload any weapon faster. Warlocks can do it and get a melee range buff, so I don't think askin for having a choice of weapon is too much here.
-Change Lucky pants to auto reload stowed hand cannons rather than make the player work hard for every single bullet. When they added that in the latest patch it was nothing short of insulting honestly. I'm askin for draw speed and auto load when stowed for hand cannons, nothin more.
-Extend the buff time after dodging for Dragon's shadow. Not a lot can be done to make it more competent. I'd suggest upped dodge recharge but they'd be ridiculous.
-Give Knucklehead radar an improved radar upgrade for a slightly easier time trying to figure out what direction enemies are coming from. Don't see it getting used often so it could really use it.
Those aside though my only real beef with hunter gear is the aesthetics of a lot of them but that's here
nor there.
TL;DR sucks to be a hunter right now
Keeping things friendly, what are the thoughts from some other hunter users out there?

Edited by Snuggly Wolfs: 12/9/2017 6:38:33 AMOkay so that is a large wall of text i obviously didn’t read it all, but I main hunter so I already know what the wall of text is going to say, the tether in pvp is awful for direct hits, like you can headshot someone with it and they won’t die it’s broken as all hell. The exotics are the worst things ever at least majority of them are bad the ones that really stand out are the boots that regen your void super and the one that extends your arcstrider and puts down more damage. The other exotics seem quite unexotic and are like a regular weapon mod. The evade options are kinda really bad mainly just the reload your gun after evading which is just awful. Edit: this is my opinion, I’m not trying to cry about the hunter class because I seem to be okay with my setup as is.
