First off let me say up your nose with a rubber hose to anyone who says "oh Destiny 1 did it." You're either paid by Bungie or you're stupid because you weren't around during year 1 (or still have an ulterior motive and too stupid to get paid by Bungie) Destiny 1 did not raise the level you needed to complete weekly activities it simply put those activities in the rotation so that some weeks you couldn't do them but other weeks you could. It also didn't gate you out of the Vault of Glass. I mean sure it made the gear in Vault of Glass obsolete but that's a completely different thing. People who hadn't completed that activity or hard mode could still run it. IN FACT it made the Platinum trophy EASIER to get because you were now powered over the power level for VoG and it made going flawless easier (yeah the plat in Destiny 1 was wayyyy harder and contained double the trophies). Oh and that doesn't even make the previous practice OKAY you idjits. Like plenty of people got pissed about it back then it's just that back then y'all said that it was the worst that it would get and that we could still play the game and Bungie wasn't gating off content. In fact there is an exact quote from Deej about not leaving players behind before the DLC released back then. See it's just that Desticles will give excuses like that and then they will move the goalposts when it's proven that Bungie has lied and then Bungie will lie again. Each time y'all will say it's not that bad that Bungie didn't mean to mislead us that they have good intentions, that that is the worse it will get. Either that or you will insult the people raising concerns despite the fact they are simply just expecting Bungie to mean what they say. Kinda like how they said there would never be microtransactions in their game because they weren't that kind of dev and then it was just cosmetic and it would never affect gameplay or dev time. Each time you accept Bungie lies, each time you accept something that isn't normal, Bungie just becomes more emboldened that they can get away with it. That's how you get the state of the game that it is in. We tried to warn you, you said we were dumb. Fix your crap Bungie before gating off a trophy for people who had one month to obtain it in a game that some people have been waiting for you to sort out before even purchasing. Like my God you were still running trials for the base game a week ago on PC.
