Dear Bungie,
This is my feedback on yesterday's State of Destiny 2 post from the dev team, the podcast, plus a little bit more. Hopefully it doesn't get lost in the mix, as there's a lot of reactions to things going on right now.
I'd like to think that my recent post about loot and randomization (https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/239326115?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1) prompted some thought, but clearly the kind of changes you've planned takes more than a few days of work to implement. So I'm happy that my concerns were already on your radar and you're working to address them.
I really appreciate you going back to the previous post and providing some additional details and clarity point by point. This kind of feedback to the community really helps to address the argument that you'll say whatever it takes to make folks happy, and promptly forget about it. I am hopeful that this kind of format will be kept going forward. I also appreciate the commitment to doing a better job of communicating with the community going forward (no shade against Deej, Cozmo, or temporary-Cozmo), but please be aware that this kind of promise - if unkept - has the potential to burn lots of bridges.
On to the specifics!
Masterworks seem like a great idea. I personally prefer the simplification of knowing that every copy of Uriel's Gift, for example, is the same, and so it's safe to shard any extras, but I know that there are a lot of players who really want to chase after god rolls, so this seems like a fairly decent compromise to me. I do have a couple concerns though. First, will the pool of re-rollable stat bonuses be visible to players? I'm hopeful that I could get Third Eye, but if it's not on the list of possibilites, I'd rather know that so I don't waste my resources. Second, is there any concern that Masterworks will become a "gate" for play, the way that Gjallarhorn was early on in Destiny 1? If so, how will you address that?
Armor ornaments seem pretty cool, and I especially like that they are tied to specific objectives related to the faction. Point of clarification though; when you say that an ornament is unlocked account-wide (great idea!) does this mean across classes, or (for example) that I can unlock it on one Titan and have it available to another Titan, but not a Hunter? I'm assuming it's across classes, but we don't really have this issue when it comes to weapon ornaments.
Faction armor and weapons becoming available for purchase is fantastic. This, more than anything else, addresses my own personal biggest issue with the game. I have no doubt I'll be back in game more often as a direct result of this. Can we get some clarification on what you deem to be a "faction"? When talking about ornaments, you don't mention any destination-specific factions having ornaments (which is fine, IMHO, since each destination is already visually unique), so it does make me wonder if those are the only "factions" in your minds. I'm hopeful that destination factions make the cut for armor and weapon purchases as well, but would love some clarification on this point.
The Xur/exotic updates are great (especially addressing the problem of duplicates). Will Fated Engrams always drop at 300, as in the screenshot, or is that number based on our light level?
I don't care about mods, to be honest, but I'm not a high-end player either. (I'm most likely in the "collector" bucket you mentioned in the podcast.) Are mods something that you want all players to care about, or is this one of those things primarily for the hardcore min/max types?
Will Rahool's stock of Legendaries rotate (and if so, will there be some way for players to know what his entire stock is, so we can know if we ought to save up or not), or is it static?
Gifts sound awesome. Are these a regular thing, or associated only with The Dawning? Do they stack (I personally hope not!)? If not, what happens when two players use Gifts at the same time?
The Vendor blinky icon thing was, at worst, a minor annoyance, I felt, but this is a welcome change.
Reputation token increases sound great. This will really help collectors like myself, even if we don't get to purchase gear directly from Destination vendors.
Thank you for the clarity on the XP issue. Do you have a timeline yet on when an adjusted scaling system might be implemented?
I appreciated getting to listen to the latest podcast as well. I don't know that there were any revelations about the complexity of this stuff for me personally, but just hearing the discussion was nice (as well as the Xbox love from Mark, because frankly Xbox feels like an afterthought with you guys most of the time). With the increase in frequency of communication, does that mean we'll be getting more frequent podcasts as well? I understand that's much more work than a posted update on the site, but literally hearing from people helps us to remember that you're real, versus just words on a page.
Overall I'm very excited for the upcoming changes. I know it doesn't go far enough for some, and for others, somehow, it goes too far, but I really do think that these updates will help the game.
Finally, after learning about the new Ghost skill for Amazon's Alexa, I have to ask: will players have an in-game option for saving sets of gear? Telling Alexa/Ghost to save a set is great, and I would love to have that option in-game somewhere, even if it's not as simple as a voice command. Everything else that Alexa/Ghost does looks to be a shortcut to an existing feature in the game, save for this one thing. Please give us this option! Not everyone has or wants Alexa or others like her.

TL; DR version: I like the updates and am excited to see what happens! More details would be appreciated on certain things. Maybe they're part of patch notes?
