Let me start by saying what a fan I am and that I loved destiny 1 and have been also loving destiny 2. I also consider myself a collector and since I heard that the eververse items would no longer be available I have been trying to complete my sets.
So... yesterday I spent $49 and tonight I spent another $49 on silver trying to get some of the emotes, ships, and armor pieces I am missing. Others in the forums may not agree with me spending real money but it's not the first time I have, even in destiny 1 I collected all the sparrows, which I had to buy extra packages for.
Last night I opened quite a few at a reasonable clip and didn't really notice a problem, I got a couple dances, a bunch of duplicate sparrows and ships etc, although looking back I think there was a problem then as well. Tonight I opened the bright engrams rapidly, trying specifically for the gloves but was excited to see the last exotic ship I needed and a few emotes I didn't have, but with no gloves yet I kept opening. My mods filled up quick and most of the mailbox was full of them, as well as I received a ton of duplicate sparrows and ships, also my emotes were full. So when I went to the mailbox most of the package items were not there because my mailbox was full.
I was baffled that the items were not appearing in my mailbox so I checked the help section and my heart sank when I read that the mailbox destroys Items if it is full and that Bungie will not correct this. I understand that it is written on the site, but who reads the help section about lost items before they have lost items. Please help me here... I spent $100 and totally understand the gambling aspect of the system and that I didn't get the gloves I was looking for. But to not have received the items that were of use, and also miss out on the duplicates that I could have broken down into dust to purchase items in the expansion is extremely disheartening.
I have been super positive, even to my clanmates and in other public forums. I also know that development takes time and fixes don't happen overnight. As I stated collecting items in destiny is part of what I love about the game and the inventory system definitely discourages this, with no kiosk system and the lack of mod space I have had to spend a lot of time organizing, and have been very optimistic that the Bungie team is working on fixing these issues. All that said... how am I supposed to feel when these issues have now stolen real money from me. To spend real money, have rewards be shown on the screen, only to find out that they have been destroyed because I didn't have enough space, mostly because of blue mods. Please help me here, as I started off by saying that I have loved the games... but this honestly has soured my experience to the point that I am unsure what to do or how to think about it.

Sadly nothing can be done. Bungie does not restore lost/deleted items. Even ones bought with real money. You can sound off in feedback in the hopes they add kiosks again so anything of worth from the boxes will be there. But for now you are out of luck. The post box is not a storage area, after 20 items the rest will get deleted. In future keep note of what you're doing and make room for stuff. https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12211
