Hi dear community,
I roughly think that the most of the people that "hate" out there, without any single constructive feedback, about the DLC (or the raid lairs) know what it actually takes to develop such a big ass raid.
Like have you done well coded programming before? Modelling? Animating? Sound effects? Mapping?
I'm not trying to defend this game, it's more that I wanna say that you should think about the people behind the game, in the studios. They're just normal people like you and me and they use their time to develop you guys something to play, have fun and enjoy. And after that they get hated to death with nonsense hating? How would you feel as a developer? And obviously it's gonna cost you something, would you code hundreds of hours, if not even thousands of hours for free?
As a developer myself, I can tell you, it's not easy, it takes a damn lot of time and effort. And after that we'd love a "thank you" instead of a "f**k you".
Not saying you should love the game completely after this, but understand the work that has been put in.
This had to be said: At least some respect to the developers, designers & co. would be appreciated, instead of all the braindead-hating. Everyone has their opinion, but think about it, before shouting it.
Thank you for your time
Lots of love for the community & the workers
Don Diablo

they didnt create anything new just cut and paste and still Fed that up

I get it. Software is hard -- I've written some and I've worked in an R&D lab where it was written and I've seen how hard it is. Thing is, just because I understand doesn't mean I care. Getting this shit done is Bungie's job. They need to show their work and get the right answer -- no partial credit in this game.
-
You’re the reason the world is a soft pussy snowflake world. Good job for doing a horrible job? I don’t think so. -blam!- off
-
This argument is all kinds of stupid. Why does it matter if we have done coding or the others mentioned? It isn't our job to its theirs. They use their time to develop the game yes, is it their spare time? No. They get paid for it big difference. If you produce a trash game should you be praised? No. Like in life, you should be praised for a good job not if you do a poor job, that has lead to this ridiculous snowflake generation. I have 0 problem paying for something if it is worth the money. That's the difference. They've released a shell of a game and expect you to pay even more money for the actual flesh. Imagine if you only intended or could afford the base game, what we have now is all they will get unless they pay to get the new dlc, their game becomes void. And all the people saying 'wait for the dlc's it will get better' need to think for a second. If any other game was released and was so lackluster, nobody would say wait for the dlc, they'd say this game is trash. Dlc's have become a way for bungie to get away with releasing sub-par amounts and quality of content because they can continuously add what should have been in the game originally at an additional price. A DLC is supposed to improve upon a game, not complete it. I'll thank you if you did well, or tell you to -blam!- off if you did poorly. Just because you are a developer doesn't mean you are entitled to a good job after taking my money. If you really are a developer and stand by this, then you're as bad as bungie. Please let me know who you work for so I never buy a game from your company.
-
They’re professionals, doing a job, I expect that job to be done to a standard. The game is made superbly, it’s just a shit game that looks good.
-
Edited by Smough: 11/19/2017 5:29:18 AMIf bungie wants a thank you they are gonna have to work for it. Them being to incompetent to make a new raid for a dlc considering how it was received last time, and using something from vanilla as "new " content? Yeah, they won’t get any thanks from me.

I am a software engineer and I agree with your post about the amount of man hours it takes to create a game like this. However, I believe the decisions made about the design and direction of the game were completely misguided and wrong.
-
Do you know what it takes to build a car? Now drive your pinto and be happy. Just because it's hard doesn't give a company with millions of dollars an excuse to deliver a shitty product.
-
A few problems with this.. 1) your a solo dev, this is a company with an entire team dedicated to it. 2)D2 was in the making for 2-3years an even then it was postponed to be "finished up" as Bungie said. 3)The dev who did the visuals did an amazing job an we do thank him for it. But the person who designed the meat of the game, is a lazy -blam!- an didn't do his job properly.
-
I respect all the work the developers do, really. I do some coding myself. But I've got to side with these guys. Just because coding and animation isn't easy doesn't mean every single person has to instantly shower the department with thanks. It's okay for people to not like the game. I understand that they put a lot of time into it, but if the people don't enjoy the game then the work is incomplete. However, do not mistake this for a complaint; I genuinely respect the work their team does in preparing the elements of the game for the public. But don't force everyone to thank them if they don't like the game.

Edited by luckyguess: 11/16/2017 8:52:52 PMImagine this scenario: You go the a fast food restaurant and order a meal. The cashier tells you the total price of your order and you silently pay them in full. "Aren't you going to thank them for cooking that meal for you, you ingrate?" demands the customer behind you.
Don Diablo was that customer behind you.
It's a team of 300 people operating on a budget of hundreds of millions of dollars working on the sequel/third installment of a game that began development 5-6 years ago. Foh with that pity bullshit. WE PAY THEIR SALARY. Stop pandering to these devs man they are calling themselves AAA and are responsible for the future of not only this franchise but of the Bungie name and history. The less pushback we provide as a community, the more lazy half-assed products we get. When they can sell millions of pre-orders and season passes to chumps like you because you think coding is soooooo hard - there's a problem. Don't be fooled, these people are all passionate and highly skilled. I agree with you in general, it's like when someone says a certain pro athlete pales in comparison to another, it's like yeah okay but they're both A MILLION times better than us and they're in the best league in the country, or world! It's not personal, and I'd say it's WAY less about the actual grunt devs and more about management and the executive departments -blam!-ing up the direction of the game. Whatever the case, this is a AAA title from a AAA developer and they should start acting like they deserve that definition. Cooking a perfect steak is hard too - but if I pay $60 for one and it comes out raw... I'm gonna be pissed! Are you gonna eat it anyways and say "well steak is difficult y'know"....

I mean, we know it takes time but when you look at a game like Witcher 3 that had far less operating money and a much smaller team, they came up with a true gem that had many many hours of unique content. I’m sorry but all this shows is that money doesn’t make great games, it’s passion.
-
Dont act like they made this raid lair after the game released
-
I don't feel any sympathy. Video games are a business. People make content, I pay money. If the content I pay for isn't up to snuff, I pay other developers who make other games.
-
Respect is earned, not given. Teachers don’t give you a good grade for taking the time to write an essay, they give you a good grade for writing a great essay. Same with games, if you put your time into making a great game, then thank you. But if you make a game that absolutely flops and lost me 60 bucks, you don’t deserve respect. You should improve n the game, then you’ll have my respect.

Hi, im a Game, Level, and Mapdesigner. The only thing i wanted to say, is that DonDiablo is right. Its a shit f*ck ton of Work. I personally support his Point of View, and i think everyone should do so. Even if you dont like the Game itself. I mean you buyed it and probably played it. Best Regards. Blitz

I know how to make stuff. I helped make 2 kids and trust me, those 2 fukkers definitely need to be nerfed.
-
It takes money and time, both of which bungie has had plenty of.
-
Yes I have. I know they have the budget to do more than they do with my money.
-
The issue is, people are expecting an insurmountable amount of game time with each new bit of DLC. I mean with curse of Osiris, I'll easily get a solid 60-100 hours of entertainment from it. Now is that worth $20 to me? I'd say yes. I was fortunate enough to play some of it when I visited bungie in late September, and while I can't speak about what I played and what I saw, I can confidently say that it will be much more enjoyable than the dark below was.
it wasn't finished, so you can abandon those 'they cut finished content from the game' argument.
Props to you sir, thank you for creating this thread.

You really think any of the mouth breathers on this forum will listen to reason? Or pay attention to pesky little things like facts?
-
/me lumps myself in with AAA games developers, because I once made all the screens flash different colours on the c64s in our local supermarket. I feel thier pain because I once wrote a website for our xwing alliance clan in notepad. I knew exactly what they were going through when I finally figured how to write to the eeprom on the Arduino. Gimme a break. The game's shit.
