What if Clovis Bray made the ghosts, found a way to infuse his tech with the light. The ghost were programmed to believe they were made by the traveler and to erase the minds of anyone they rose. Apart from the Bray family. If they are all guardians then how do they remember who they were in their past life? (Assuming that is true that is.)
This would make a lot of sense, that way perhaps the traveler defended us by pushing back the darkness and not by making ghosts, that was a lie. Why? Who knows. Control perhaps. Or to keep, faith?
For this to be true, the ghost would still need to draw the light from the traveler. I'm sure Clovis would have found a way to draw and harness the light via ghosts. The light lives in all things, the traveler radiates light, ghost can draw and harness that power and feed it to us.
I came up with this cause Iv always wondered, why the traveler chose us? From the books of sorrow alone there are many more races that would have done far better than us with our abilities. Imagine is The Ammonits had ghosts? And why didn't the traveler give everyone a ghost immediately? Given how powerful the traveler seems to be, making ghosts should have been effortless.
What do you think?
*EDIT* If you look at the poster for the second D2 DLC, most people think that the female on the front is Ana Bray. And just below her is what looks like a ghost, but massive. Maybe it isn't really that size, they could have blown it up just for the poster, but it makes you think.
