I've accrued $70 worth of dust to make purchases without spending a dime, just from playing the game daily for 2 months. Sure, I can only use the dust on the weekly items, but I've gotten everything I want from the store for free.
INB4 "RWT Sucks"
I agree, I'm just saying, since they DIDNT get rid of it, this time around seems more "free friendly"
cheers, pls be gentle

It should be rewards from playing the game. I'm all for having a few cosmetic costumes and ships, but all of them? Literally all of the things are locked behind bright engrams. How ridiculous..
-
What the flying -blam!- are some of these responses? Am I playing a different version of Destiny or something? Why do most people think Eververse is a paywall system? You literally get shit that doesn't -blam!-ing matter from that place.
-
Really? Praising a companies product monetization system....no wonder these companies think that consumers are brain dead wallets....
-
I have about 4000 bright dust that I’ve earned currently and I’ve bought a few things beforehand. I’m not having a hard time with getting bright dust ! however ! I don’t think anything should be behind a paywall in a game you paid for ever.

Edited by Shirtless_Captain_Kirk: 11/7/2017 7:12:16 AMActually true honestly. If you play it's all there for you basically.

Don't worry all of it goes to more content! If we are talking about more stuff in the Eververse to buy. Got me thinking though are there any ships/Sparrows we can get from the actual game?

I had no real issue with Eververse. I do not believe micro-transactions should be in a full price AAA title, but that is my own opinion. That said, since we could "earn" everything offered at Eververse by leveling up our XP and getting Bright Dust I thought it was palatable. Then, like others that have posted, I noticed my XP progress was slowing down, even during the 3X weekly reset. Now, why would Bunglevi$ion want to have a "XP cooldown timer"? Don't strain your brain thinking about it, as it is obvious. By restricting weekly leveling they then restrict the amount of "free" Bright Dust "earned". This, in theory, will direct anyone that really wants something before reset to "give up" and just purchase it with real world currency (Silver). THIS is the issue I have with micro-transactions in paid AAA titles. It breeds shady practices. I expect micro-transactions in FTP games. It is how they make money. Luke Smith already gave away the secret. Destiny is a "collection game". The only way to "collect" the "cool" stuff is by getting Bright Dust. Now, Bunglevi$ion is restricting how much Bright Dust can be "earned". THAT IS the problem.

It has no business in a $60 game in the 1st place. They could, if they wish, put everything that’s in Eververse in the game’s normal loot pools. It’s nothing more than panhandling, begging for more money for nothing beneficial to the player, period.
-
What is RWT?
-
I agree that it’s better overall. It just kind of sucks that it’s even more of a slot machine now. Especially for those that pay actual money. At the end of d1 you could basically choose from every individual item.
-
I don’t think that this is an unpopular opinion, it’s one of the few things that Destiny 2 beats Destiny at. It’s a way better system.
-
lol, my Bright Dust is just about to surpass my Legendary Shards, and like you, I haven't spent a dime. Titan and Hunter have full Optimacy sets. Have all exotic emotes except Flip Out. 👍 2500 Legendary Shards 2300 Bright Dust

Overall agree ever-verse and the micro transactions side of the game is better due to being able to earn what’s there. For someone who never participated in micro transactions in any game I like this touch. Not having these classes of items(different then what is there) being able to be earned through endgame content(looking at you ships and sparrows) is a bad decision. Having certain types of items able to be acquired through eververse only my was a misstep for the game IMO.

Earning the Glowhoo shader from Destiny 1 was one of the most enjoyable experiences I had in the game. We had just rocked Vault of Glass and decided it was time for Hard Mode Crota. We stormed through it and got the shader... Then we went to the old, better tower, and we all just danced. It was really nice. And after, when that team played, we played with Glowhoo Moments like this won't exist in D2. These times... The ones where, in 6vs6, your super would wipe a team., seeing a raid ship someone earned for the first time... so many of the "wow" moments are gone. It's a shame. While I am a devout capitalist and would be happy to pay for real extras like extra vault space or another character... There's no reason or excuse to tie Eververse to all ghosts, ships, and shaders.
-
Well, I agree with your opinion. Popular or Not. Earning even 1 extra engram per week feels better and more rewarding than just waiting for next weeks handouts. I just hope they add a Ship and Sparrow Collection Page in the Vault before CoO releases.

Edited by Kil (Inept): 11/6/2017 7:47:42 AMThe Eververse is better in one way - all items are now earnable in game. The fact you can still only gamble if you actually buy silver is bad. You can't just buy an emote you want like before. The fact that all ships, sparrows & enotes etc are only available through bright engrams is bad. There should be some that are rare drops from specific activites only. A ship that can only be earned from a strike chest. An emote you can only get from the prestige raid etc. #makelootgreatagain

Bungie fucked up in many ways (especially endgame) with Destiny 2, but the problem or issues don't lie with Eververse at all, which is better than it was. The issues exist in all of our options they took away. Want to choose a specific crucible mode, too bad. Want to play custom games with your friends? Nah, no can do. Want to have multiple strike lists to choose from as well as earning strike specific gear or even strike scoring?! Well too fucking bad. Hell, you want to even replay the campaign that has a real cohesive story this time again? Not a chance, unless you want to start a new and/or delete an entire character. Tired of those regular activities and want to mix it up with some Court of Oryx, Prison of Elders, or SIVA Arena? Well too bad suckers, go back to farming those Public Events instead... After all, why do the Raid or Trials? The gear has 0 unique perks that set them apart from anything else in the game... The fact that they took all of these options away, and gave absolutely nothing in return is what's truly unforgivable. But honestly anyone that played Destiny 1 knows the two true reasons for this...
1. Activision forced Bungie to release the game earlier than it should have to maintain a certain release date so they could have profits coming in, hence not enough time to re-incorporate the most basic of options that already existed in Destiny 1. 2. So that they could release these basic features (that should have come with the base game) as future free updates to create the illusion of 'free' content and appear they are 'listening' to the players, and/or add these features in paid DLC to pad it with 'extra content' to make it look like we're getting more than we actually are.

In case anyone is actually reading this far, let me say I've already got 100+ enjoyable hours out of Destiny 2, so I feel I got my money's worth even though I've stopped playing now. What makes me sad is Destiny 2 is only a good game... when it could have been a great game.
-
Bungie massively -blam!-ed the game.
-
Yea this game isn't great
-
Anyone that disagrees with your opinion is either a masochist or an idiot.
-
Yep. Done right IMO. I hate the practice but if they're gonna exist, those who pay can grab them and those who play can too. Win win on a half win.
-
Microtransactions are AIDS
-
While I'm not a huge fan of Eververse taking over the role of what used to be factions and Vanguard loot rewards, I agree it is better now. The earn rate for bright engrams is fine, I get at least 2 or 3 a play session. I'm really going to feel it when those new ghosts come out though, I haven't really wanted anything super badly this first season, but the new ghost designs are triggering my "collector" impulse.
-
Still would’ve been great if we could earn those sparrows through sparrow racing, earn those emotes by helping Tess everis through side quest, earn those ghost shells through learning about the light and traveler through sidequest and have a normal shader system. But too bad, people rather gamble for it.
-
IMO D2 did micro transactions almost perfectly, you can buy what you want or you can play to earn the shader you are trying to get; everyone has the chance to get 3 a week on each character and even more if you work harder for each one
