I'm not sure why this hasn't been brought up more often.
If you ask me, this is the best way to put the power in the hands of the players. You guys did this with your Halo franchise and I, along with many others, abolustley LOVED it.
Didn't like the slow paced gunplay ? Increase the player movement speed and lower the amount of shields you had. There were so many different combinations.
I played countless hours playing custom games because I didn't care for how competitive the multiplayer was and I had so much fun with friends just screwing around with the different options at hand along with Forge. Feel free to add that as well.
I bring this up simply because I, along with many other people in the Destiny community, don't care for the even SLOWER paced game that is Destiny 2. I honestly didn't think it would get any slower than what we had at the end of D1. Unfortunately, if you ask me, D2 is just D1 nerfed into the ground. I've managed to adapt and change, that's not my issue. It's simply dull and not fun to me. I put several hundreds of hours into D1's PvP. I have no intention of doing so with D2.
This is a great way around that issue without changing the sandbox to meet those players wants and needs. It gives them the power to do so themselves.
There is nothing comparable to giving power to the players.
Edit: Some people are mentioning the return of Private Matches. Custom Games =/= Private Matches. The difference is Custom Game adds options to manipulate the core mechanics of the gameplay. Private Matches are simply to play with specific people on a chosen map and a chosen game variant with no changes to core mechanics.
I am aware of the returning of Private Matches and I'm happy they're returning, I'd just like to see them go the extra mile with Custom Games like they had in their previous franchise.
Edit 2: Wow people are actually down voting something that could help everyone's experiences and replayability ? I'd love for these people to explain why this shouldn't be a thing. Wtf.

Edited by WorsePanther310: 11/6/2017 4:05:58 PMYes Bungie will add this! Just wait until the last month of D2 before D3 comes out
Oh and 49.99$
Buy that expansion buddy

Pleeeeeease! We need to control movement speed, health and regen, ammo and bottomless ammo, spawn explosive barrels everywhere, ability regen time, and for goodness sake, let us use those tanks in Custom Matches! That is all
-
Adding custom games is something that might not happen. With custom games, you'd likely need something similar to Halo's Forge—and you don't want the same copy of a game released Way earlier. While I agree it would be fun, there are other standpoints to look at it from. This game will likely have a long life—hopefully longer than the span of the original Destiny. In that time, there will be newer things to explore! For now, though, we should just be glad that private games were announced. Happy Hunting~!

We've been asking for that for 3 years and we got private matches, so I think that's all we're gonna get. Definitely better than nothing though.
I'm not sure why this hasn't been brought up more often.
Because Bungie already said that it's coming. They're trying for an early 2018 update with private matches.
