By the end of Destiny 1, pretty much everyone knew which zones, on each map, were preferable to have during the match.
I know that a lot of the players in Destiny 2, are new players. So I'd like to give you all a heads up, and hopefully take a little frustration out the crucible for some of us veterans, and yourselves.
Distant Shores - B and C
Alter of Flame - A and B
Legion's Gulch - A and C
Emperor's Respite - B and A
Javelin-4 - A and B
Midtown - B and C
Vostok - A and C
These zones are the zones that seem to be easier to control, protect, and go between.
Also, while holding 3 zones gives you power plays, and can add a huge boost to your score, in D2. It's best to just try to maintain only two zones at a time, as most often capping the third will open up one of your zones, for the other team to steal it; which will put you at the disadvantaged spawn. So most often, it's not worth going for the power play, unless you're absolutely sure that your team cash maintain the triple cap.
This is just a short list of a few that I know of for sure. I'm not real sure on some of the other maps yet. So, feel free to add to the list, or advise if I've gotten any that I listed wrong.
Inb4 - "Your k/d is "______", you don't know what you're talking about."...
I had over 75 days of play time in just Destiny 1 Crucible, 95% of that time was spent playing just Control for 6-8 hours per night. Before Destiny 2 came out, I was top 10 in the US, and top 200 in the world for capturing zones. I realize this doesn't mean that "I'm good", (I'm not trying to claim that), but it should show that I played enough to know at least the basics of capturing zones.
Edit: Jeez, why so many down-votes? There have been a lot of up-votes, but it's not getting much higher, because of down-votes, I'm guessing. Do those of you down-voting, not want people to know which zones are the better zones to hold, or what? Would you rather they didn't know, and continued causing your team to spawn on the bad side?

What is this "control" of which you speak? I haven't seen anything other than supremacy. /s

Edited by SirMang: 11/1/2017 5:56:06 PMWhy is AC a thing for Vostok? CB and AB are both equally better than AC. If you try to control AC on that map, you give up B and the other team will be constantly flipping A or C to their advantage. Just bad strategy the way that map is. CB is the easiest one to defend both just because of how clean the run is between both points. And CB is definitely preferable on Altar of Flame. There are clean sightlines to take out people coming for B from A. No such sightlines, until people are on top of B, from C.

to be honest, they should remove A and C zones

I think capturing the points should actually mean something. Our team has won with only one capture the whole game - that's not right. Control should force you to rush and whatever team has the 2 points for the most time should win. Kills shouldn't be counted for points, only capping the zones, JMO.

I actually think with the way d2 scoring is structured, there is no longer a best cap. If you have one flag, you need a 2nd, and generally it should be the closest to your spawn so you don't get tied in trades where they score double your points. Triple caps win games or turn around games even. D1 I absolutely would have agreed, but D2, holding two points against a decent team means getting steam rolled 2v4 on whichever cap comes next. Personally I think a tactic of 3 together with a separate runner/flanker works best, constantly pushing caps and having one go off grid to cap the flag the enemy leave unguarded. It's all pretty dynamic now, at least in my experience.

Im down voting you post just because of your cancerous comments the past few months and now your here looking for changes. So do actually like the game or did you just shit all over it because you can?
i actually dont care. I just see another hypocrite to mute.🖕
Excellent post! You should also mention that you only have to hold 2 to win! It drives me crazy when my team decides to go for a triple cap, which means we lose..
-
Always nice to see someone pass along helpful information. Although giving this community thinking that Control is just a another name for TDM, this maybe a lost cause. Anyhow - thanks
-
You listed Emperor’s Respite B and A, you have no idea how much that ordering bothers me
-
I think you may be on the wrong forum. I believe that posting anything but D2 sucks is a violation of the forum rules. (Nice info for the noobs, btw.)
-
up voting for useful information. I like seeing that. OT i'm curious. What are your 2 least favorite maps and most favorite map? for me I hate respite with a passion. javelin is my second hated map. alter of flame is my favorite.
-
Hot tip - if you don't have the "good" spawn at the start, push on the A/C not B. It will mostly be not defended, take and you have the advantage when you then push on B.
-
You mean running round in a circle capturing one zone while losing another isn't the best way to play?
-
Wait... so there is another game mode other than supremacy???????????? mind blown!
-
Don't you tell me what crests to capture!
-
What's this "Control" you speak of? Is that the one where I run around collecting those engram shaped things?
-
Don't forget Vostok A and C. Kills me when teammates rush to get B.
-
Excellent post, thank you.
-
Great post. Too bad so few want to play the objective
-
Don’t tell them, you’ll make it harder for those of us who know how to play Control! 😉 kidding, obviously. This is great advice.
-
But i thought if you were holding strong with 2 taking the third was always the best way to win
-
Jesus... only 5 maps!?! And 2 are remakes!?! That’s bad :(
-
Not sure why people would down vote this. I played quite a lot of pvp in D1 and am even doing so in D2 (shocking to some i know) but i can see how this would help newer players out. Keep posting stuff like this and don't worry about the re re's with no life but to troll the internet. This is a helpful post and on some levels a refreshing one in a sea of salt lol.

no matter the outcome i still get tokens or some loot, so why should i care if i win or lose?
-
Emperors respite Is very poorly designed. If you spawn at C, you lose, unless the other team is full of idiots. That reminds me of a story... I was on a team that spawned at A. We easily took B and held it. We were ahead by 30 points. Then, without warning, my whole team decided to take C (except me). I was left to hold A and B by myself. I’m sure you can imagine how that went. Yep exactly like that. We got C (yay). The enemy team destroyed me at A, and easily took A and B. They came back from a 30 point deficit to win. We held C the rest of the game (because the other team was not full of idiots). Moral of the story, if you have A and B on Emperors Respite, don’t go for C. You don’t need it, and you’re hurting your team. Just hold A and B. The enemy can’t take them from you if you do it right.

You missed Vostok... A and C. Controversial but true.
