I just read a deaf guy talking about how it’s difficult for him to get parties because of his handicap. It made me think, with the new emote interface incoming, why not use tactical emotes? Emotes to push, suppress, prioritize threats, go to here, fall back, disperse, etc. could be really cool right? And it would help deaf people play. There are obviously a lot of neat missions that could be built around this.

Good idea, they ll add this emotes in game for only 3k silver coins

Emotes will do literally nothing to help with this. Bungie has commented multiple times that it is absolutely intended that most players not complete end game content regularly. Which is in fact also stating "we know this means people with disabilities are locked out of content, that is intended." The ADA doesn't require game publishes to make their games In a way that handcap persons can play them. If you don't like their exclusionary way of doing business all I can say is stop buying their games cause that's really all we can do about it. But. Seriously. They have said they absolutely intend to exclude people... So... You're asking for something to help people whom they are deliberately excluding.

Even with emotes like that deaf players would still have a hard time finding fireteams for raids - but you have my upvote regardless, it's a good idea.

Yes i agree i play with a friend who is deaf and his messages are hard to understand sometimes

Hell even a simple thank you emote would be great. So many times I wanted to thank someone in game without looking through the fireteam list, then go to their profile and send a message.

I like the idea, but can see it going wrong in a couple of ways (for us console plebes). 1. Key binding: where would we put those controls on a controller that is already full mapped? 2. Notability: how do you ensure that people see it in the middle of a firefight? It's a nice idea (seriously, I feel bad for shooting holes in it), but it might not end up being very practical.

I'm for this. Recently tried doing the raid with a guy who is deaf for his first time. He could kill adds with the best of them and we got threw the gardens with little trouble but the gauntlet was a complete fail. There was no way to communicate to him quickly enough the commands without failing. So freeing up the other three emote slots and adding some basic calls; top, mid, bottom, would be very helpful.

Nice. Problem is, in the thick of a firefight, in the general chaos, you're not likely to notice a player's emote If you take phantasy star online, players could map text that they wrote to certain buttons and the text would appear in clear letters onscreen when they hit the button (at least you could in the original dreamcast version, don't know about others) Something like that might be better for destiny, similar to that used in the PC version, though the text should be abit bigger, more prominent so it can be clearly seen, especially in the heat of the moment

Bump.
