People say they get banned for using an overlay, Bungie says they didn't and won't get banned for using an overlay.
If there are people out there who haven't been banned yet who either have Destiny 2 on PC or has some money to burn buying it, maybe they could stream themselves playing? Like, from the moment they start playing for the very first time. They'd first show the viewers their open tasks to prove they weren't doing anything nefarious, then they'd start playing the game. They could use the overlay from discord or some other program for a specific length of time, and see if they get banned.
I don't know what the outcome of this experiment will be, but if people actually stream themselves getting banned with people watching, they'd have 100% definitive proof that Bungie was lying about their system. If people stream themselves for hours under the test conditions and not a single one is banned? It would go a long way to proving that you can't get banned.
Specific test conditions:
* You must have NEVER played Destiny 2 on PC before.
* Before you start playing, you must show your open windows and task manager to ensure you're not doing anything nefarious.
* Before you start playing, you must begin a program such as discord that has an in-game overlay. The overlay must also be turned on for the experiment.
* Once you start playing, you need to be streaming non-stop for your entire play session, to ensure that you aren't doing anything that could get you banned.
* At some point during your play session (if you haven't already been banned), you must stop and restart whatever program you are running that has the overlay. After which, you must turn the overlay back on and keep playing.
* The stream must be archived so that it can be referred to later as evidence if need be.

This is why I do consoles. That and the whole left hand keyboard-for-movement thingy. 😐
