What I said in that post is still true today. None of the 3rd party overlays or performance tools like Discord, Xsplit, OBS, RTSS, etc. will cause a player to be banned, you can read more about that here. If you are trying to attach cheat tools, debuggers, or manipulate games files, those are things that can result in a ban.
You can read more information about our security here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/46426
This article also has a lot of information about bans what kinds of things can get you in trouble: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/11929

Look, Cozmo - I can give you the benefit of a doubt and assume that everything you said is true: those mentioned items are not causing the ban. However, the language in Bungie's responses thus far suggest that none of the bans issued were done by mistake. As a result, you now have people in the forums branding everyone reporting the bans as "cheaters" and "liars". Are you sure you guys at Bungie don't want to adjust your statements? Because, if it turns out that a portion of these bans are a result of false positives, it's not a good look on your part if you played a role in ostracizing the people who came to you in legitimate need of assistance, due to your hubris.

Edited by iRaux: 10/26/2017 11:13:43 AMcouldn't have said it better myself. I am willing to accept that they aren't targeting specific software but to say no we did this manually suggests the reporters of illegitimate bans are outright lying cheating or have altered their game code. IMO even the nature of the bans is clearly a security system issue that is picking up third party and background applications as cheating (which it isn't your system just cant tell the difference) and in the case of people starting the game with nothing else open and getting banned immediately and excuses like your pc isn't compatible come into play ... so why not just say that to said player instead of banning the person its like when you get error coded and every message blames your connection yet your internet for everything else is still running crispy and its just their backed up servers. bungie really need to work on their transparency my best bet is this is a blizzard/battle net security issue hence the vague responses rather than call out blizzards security as they need them for the pc version

Cosmo I’ll pass this along
-
I wonder how many times he copy and paste a script
-
Man, Bungie replies make me wish my job was scripted. It would make my life a lot easier.

Edited by Jezrelm: 10/25/2017 10:59:48 PMI have to stand Whit cozmo here, the PC world is a whole different ecosistem, full of tools that let you do almost anything with a game, Battlenet has become over the years the most efficient anti cheat plataform out there, no script or hack endure to long without causing a permanent ban, and in that regard Blizzard has no mercy, just search for his massive bans on overwatch to see what I'm talking about.
-
These bans aren't coming from Blizzard, a reputable PC-centric company with a long history of doing the right thing in this arena. They're coming from Bungie, a company who has chosen to ignore PC gamers as late as the last game they made.

SHIT LOL THIS IS STILL GOING
-
Dude get the hell out of here all you do is give people an answer on paper but you don't actually do anything you continue to let any problems grow until there so big and they can't get any bigger
-
and yet you idiots keep demanding they respond... when they do, you shit all over them. It's no wonder there's little to any transparency between Bungie and the community. You don't deserve it.

Thats literally his job.. He's a community manager. I'm pretty sure he got hired because he was a long time forum member/moderator or something
-
He made the DestinyTheGame reddit as a community member.
-
this ain't no file sharing network cheat and catch that ban scrub
-
I honestly think that there may be a bug in the system, my friend was using discord while playing the d2 pc beta and was banned. Could there possibly be a bug? And also, thank you for responding to this post, I know you get a lot of hate, but when you reply it shows us that you are really listening. Thanks.

What else did he have open? I read that any kind of dubugger (e.g. things that might show your frame rate overlayed or monitor your activity for performance analysis) or even a Steam overlay can cause this. Also some people are not banned, they are suspended. It's important to note that temporary "bans" are not bans.
-
I thought that was the problem also, but the only thing he had was discord. It doesn’t make any sense to me.
-
Why would guardians down vote your reply? Seems like a polite comment and request to me. Have fun and may RNG be forever in your favor.
-
The news said game doesn't ban. Manual investigation, manual ban. So, if everyone is being truthful, some got banned before they even created a character. That is some super fast investigation.
-
Some were probably banned from the Beta and didn't know it because it didn't happen until shortly after. Also some people are not banned at all, they're suspended. A lot of people use the word "ban" too liberally when it's not what happened to them.
-
I'd be willing to bet, every person who got banned before creating a character, played the beta using either the same account or the same PC. Bungie then had 2 months to manually investigate those results. If you cheat in a frickin beta, you're gonna cheat in the full game, so why give them a chance to do so and ruin the game for other new players?
-
Says your help fourm. Shows how much you check your game
-
You say that but https://youtu.be/H1xDZOZNTsU?t=595 Clearly something else is going on.
-
Yes I agree. Clearly something is going on. I suggest you look again at the clip. The player actions ask ???? as stated in other replies. Have fun and may RNG be forever in your favor.

At 8:10 he uses an auto rifle midair, not aiming on the enemies, and makes every shot. They RNG bloom makes us so even a god would miss half of their shots. I'm calling a toggle.

Something a LOT of PC FPS players do since initial shots are almost 100% on point. You called wrong.
