In the first Destiny you had unique inventories per character and a shared vault. In Destiny 2, you have unique inventory for weapons and armor per character but the items, shaders and mods are all shared between characters. While this is better it is hampered by the limited storage space.
To avoid the confusion about how much people can carry, the need for a post master, etc. I suggest the following:
1. Remove the 9 carry spots for every item
2. Have every engram and item picked up go straight to a shared vault between all characters
3. When the user wants to swap out a weapon they can swap it directly with the vault from anywhere and not just what the user is carrying on them. This means they can use any weapon at any time as long as the equipment is not locked per game type.
4. I would divide the vault into sections (New, Archived, Mods, Shaders and Collections). All new pickups would go to the New area until archived. The rest are self explanatory.
5. The sizes for these new vault sections would be 50, 200, 100, 100, and unlimited respectively
6. To fill the extra space in the users profile you can add stored equipment sets. The user can configure armor and weapons for a saved set. The user can have 10 sets stored for quick swapping.
