D2 had a great story with memorable characters
Are you seriously going to tell me that you gave a rats ass about The Speaker dying? Was Hawthorne a memorable character? Other than Cayde-6, I couldn't care less about any of them. Well, maybe Failsafe.....sort of. Heck, I don't even care about my own characters. They don't talk, they don't interact, they have no emotion, no personality, etc. They are just hollow shells to me.
Great story? It was decent at best. Ultra simplistic, if you ask me.
Besides, they had three years to work on this, so I amazed how little they have progressed in that time. It's a step backwards.

It seems post like these are common. And yet, story was a major driving factor on why people hated on destiny 1. If you didn’t give a rats ass about the speaker then, you won’t now. Fair enough. But then you have no say in what story is compelling and what isn’t because you’re clearly not invested in the lore. I, for one, enjoy the destiny universe and with youtubers like myelin and my name is byf bringing fan fiction to life it’s far more engaging than most one dimensional mediocre shooters that are pumped out by other companies. Further, I think people are hating destiny right now because it’s trendy. Because they’re mad an emblem isn’t purple in their inventory slot. And because they can’t be a special snowflake with a one of a kind weapon that literally anyone that could do a raid could also attain. At the end of the day, if you don’t like destiny, then don’t like it. This is America.

Edited by blade329: 10/23/2017 1:27:43 AMWell, the story in D2 isn't bad, but I think people were just expecting more. Much more. Actually I was invested in the lore, but they decided to omit, change or ignore things that I was interested in. The Darkness and the Exo Stranger for starters. Heck, even Efrideet or all reference to us being an Iron Lord is gone. It's easy to see why players are not happy. I loved Destiny 1. I played it for months and months. One of the best games I ever played. Sure, it had flaws and needed some changes. I thought, and I'm not alone, that Destiny was going to progress to the next level and begin to be the epic that it should be. Instead, it's a lazy half-assed step backwards, taking away more than gives back. So, yeah, I don't like it because my expectations were very high. Most of the people that are going to really like this game are first time players and low expectation fan boys who will defend anything that Bungie does. I mean, seriously, the competitive PvP players are hailing the game simply for the fact that they won't get ability spammed to death in it. You can't get any more low expectation than that. Yes, it's just my opinion. If you like the game, great, enjoy it. I envy you. I wish I could like it. I really wanted to.
This is Earth.
Fix'd, since this is an international game with an international community. Solid post.
