So, we're all aware of the Dreadnaught, correct? Well let me give you a brief history of it anyway.
The Dreadnaught is a massive Luna-sized Hive ship under the command of Oryx, the Taken King. It was built after the Vex/Hive War using the corpse of the Worm God, Akka. It was built so Oryx's Throne World has the ability to move around, so that enemies have a harder time entering it.
Arguably, it's most prominent feature is the super weapon it houses. It is represented by two dishes (one each side of the ship) with lines on either side of the dish running down the length of the ship. The weapon was built by Ir Halak and Ir Anuk, the Daughters of Oryx, because they are way smarter than their dumbass brother, Crota.
Let's see how it's activated.
As shown in the Battle of Saturn cutscene, Oryx used his sword to activate it. The sword's power must've been so strong or that is one hell of a button. Energy runs down the length of the ship and meets at the disks, where it collects in the center and releases a large sphere of death. The sphere reaches up to 15000 kilometers.
The sphere is actually Oryx's throne world being pushed out into the physical world, so let me give you an explanation as to how things could actually survive the blast and how it actually kills.
Only Ascendant beings can enter the Ascendant Realm. It's confirmed when we tried to enter it in the Enemy of My Enemy mission. You are pushed away from the portal with great force.
Given this, imagine the sphere of death as a large portal to the Ascendant Realm. Nobody during the Battle of Saturn on the Reef's side were Ascendant. The portal launches with such force that it pushes anything near the Dreadnaught away and destroys them at the same time. Imagine being hit by One Punch Man and increase it. That's the power we're talking about here.
Putting the Dreadnaught next to Earth and activating the weapon would decimate it.
Oryx killed his own fleet.
Or did he?
Once we became Ascendant, we could enter the portal.
Assuming the "sphere of death" is a large portal, Ascendant Hive (and us) could survive. That doesn't mean we would survive the initial blast, however. If our ghost survived, then we could resurrect, but if the ghost died, then we would be permanently dead. Don't forget the strength of this blast could literally level planets. Meanwhile, Ascendant Hive would retreat back to their realms and come back later.
So, that's all. If this is the power the Hive possess, then I don't even want to know what the Darkness has in store for us. After all, if the Worm Gods are with the Darkness, that would mean they rest in the Tetrahedral Ships, meaning that the smaller ships are bigger than the Dreadnaught and the main ship is at least 10 times as big.

so your saying the dreadnought pretty much creates false vacuums
-
Dreadnought vs Almighty, which would win?
-
Hey AM! I have a question! Other than the fallen, and I think a few guardians referring to the traveler as a machine, do we have any knowledge as to what it is for sure? It doesn’t make sense that the human race would just accept this sphere as basically its savior without knowing anything about it.
-
So let me get this straight the dreadnoughts super weapon was so strong it made the sequel a burning pile of dog shit
-
I got a better question. If two vegans are in a fight is it considered beef?
-
I play a sci-fi d and d. This makes the dreadnought so much more powerful

Could this weapon effect someone with this powers? Omilock: User resides outside of everything: space, time, non-space, non-time, duality, probability, improbability, possibility, impossibility, nonexistence, (absolute) nothingness, existence, etc. They cannot be affected by anything, even temporal paradox or reality warping; and are immune to virtually everything, even Universal Irreversibility and Nonexistence. Omni-Protection User is protected against anything/everything regardless of its nature, whether its physical, mental, spiritual, supernatural or conceptual, allowing them to avoid any/all damage, no matter what the source of it is.

Basically Oryx brought his home with him. Then said, "Screw you all, I'm going home.......which is conveniently in my pocket.".
-
If i hit the dreadnought with enough force to destroy seven universes. What will happen?

Edited by ElementalRunner: 10/24/2017 1:26:21 AMI thought the blast was oryx’s ascendant realm being brought into our reality, that’s why it pushes everything outwards. Could be remembering wrong though Nvm that’s what you said I just misread it. Gg on the lore👍
-
Dude. They are literally making this up as they go. There was no plan with Destiny 1. There is no plan with this. Other than DLC consisting of content that was already in the game, they make it up as they make it. People look way too deeply into this shit when the developer doesnt even care that much.

Edited by HELP1NG HAND: 10/23/2017 4:39:39 PMThe thing that I find really intimidating is when I think about how the Cabal Skyburner vessel charged right through that superweapon blast to ram straight through armor that even the Queen's Harbingers couldn't penetrate.
As Oryx didn't hesitate to use the fleet obliterating super weapon on Eris' lone, one manned jumpship, it is a no brainer that Oryx would use it immediately upon detecting an obvious Cabal warship on an intercept course.
Edited by Pheonix: 10/24/2017 1:15:15 AMCould this be how the queen and her brother survived? Maybe they figured out a way to become ascendant. So now they're in the same boat as osiris and toldand.

Nah man, that sphere of death is just Oryx releasing a fart he had saved in his freezer in a jar. Nothing but ascendant hive can withstand an ascendant fart.
-
Can the dreadnought destroy the sun? Could it destroy galaxies?
-
Could the dreadnought stand a chance agaisnt V'ger, a space ship thats bigger than our solar system?
-
Yes!!! This is what the forum is about!!! This is what a healthy fanbase does!! Great post 👍👍👍👍

This This is largely what the forums should be about. Interesting lore and funny posts. Save your complaints for the feedback section.

Wrong, just wrong and I didn't even have to read it because I judge posts by the headline! Oryx, the taken king, farts into a funnel that amplifies it x1000.
-
So what your saying is ...
Oryx molested Crota and to keep him from talking he through him into a Vex portal?
-
man get this lore shit outta here i only want to see complaints and grievances... lore ain't even in the dam GAME
-
Great post, I hadn't thought about the weapon in that way at all, I just thought it was a destructive shockwave.
-
So what’s bigger, the Dreadnaught or the Leviathan? ~Sentinel America
-
Pshh, my Death Star is much more powerful then that!

Thank you, an actual interesting LORE post! Nowadays it’s all just people complaining about the game. I appreciate the time you put into this. Keep up the good work :)
