I had fun at the beginning of the journey. Then I don't know what happened. The final nail in the coffin for me was the absence of prestige raid rewards.
This time around I had the belief that D2 would pick up where year 3 left off. Not a few steps behind vanilla. I am Jack's broken dream.
How are you guys finding the game at this point? How are you spending your time when online? Or are you taking a break till the expansion?
Edit: Trending. I would like to thank you all for your contributions. It isn't satisfying for me that this post has so many people in agreement. I respect that the developers put in long hours and massive amounts of energy to craft Destiny 2. I understand that the product at launch is a foundation that will be built on in time. However, when you review the constructive feedback and the similar ideas from a variety of Guardians. It is genuinely surprising that Bungie didn't anticipate these issues would eventuate. Sadly this culminates in a validation of the title. At this point in time "D2 is Disappointing".

There are many contents coming to Destiny 2. Relax, play some crucible, enjoy IO, explore edz. Loot the systems, sectors public events. I think the Dawning is coming next week. Don’t say you’re disappointed because you didn’t get Prestige rewards when Bungie states there weren’t going to be any, just change the mechanics and challenge us. I’m looking forward to play Destiny 2 for a while. My clan is looking for more active players, add me on PSN: Martinez_Billy. I raid every weekend and currently looking for a team to run prestige. Enjoy the game it’s been less than 2 months.

Edited by SaintHollow: 10/22/2017 4:54:53 PMTo be fairly honest, I got extremely bored extremely quick. It almost feels as if it's a chore to play the game, to get my moneys worth. Destiny 1 was EXTREMELY reptitive but Destiny 2 was even more so. I think it simply could be the lack of content for NOW, but currently I feel as if there is no goal, except reaching 305 light. There were a massive amount of quests and exotic quests before, but now it just feels extremely stale. I'm hoping this game gets fixed in their next DLC, add some aspects that will reward hardcore Destiny players. The exotic sword question was a perfect example of this. Even if you weren't hardcore, you could still complete this by playing an hour or so everyday. I just feel as if I had a lot more to do in Destiny 1. I'm most likely going to leave Destiny 2 alone for now until I feel the urge to want to play it for fun. It feels like the D1 drought all over again, but worse.

Logged on wed for prestige, was told drops were cosmetic & lvl cap was still 305. Logged back off. Guess this games dead until DLC 🤷🏾♂️

And to add to my post, the developers took good ideas from the community and implemented them wrong. Remember when raid weapons were awesome? Remember elemental primaries? Getting rid of elemental primaries was easily the worst decision they ever made. Remember the idea the community had then that "hey why don't they make element tokens that you can consume to make a weapon that element"? The community mainly meant kinetic weapons, I mean what's the point of changing the element of a weapon that's already elemental damage when you can just keep grinding and get one? I feel they purposely take things away from the core game just to release them as dlc.

At this point I absolutely hate it... I play Darksouls mostly until my clanmates persuade me to help with the raid or something. This developer team is quite possibly the worst game development team I have ever seen in any game and I played through the NGE revamp of Star Wars Galaxies... Destiny 2 is a giant disappointment in current configuration and conceptually. I just watched their season 2 stream covering "the dawning"........ how clueless these morons really are!

Edited by O8ES: 10/22/2017 5:48:31 PMAfter power rewards are done, I can’t think of a reason to log on. I didn’t get tired of D1 for 8 or 9 months. This D2 shit is boring.

Destiny and Destiny 2 are really fun for me, and they are definitely my most favorite-to-play-games ever, but there are a few things that p!ss me off with D2. For example, the raid, the new shader system, etc.
D1 and D2 definitely don't deserve a "best" game title, though
I haven't purchased destiny 2 and I probably will never return to destiny. I got destiny a few months after release and played daily until the Iron King dropped. I remember watching the trailers for destiny 2 and it was obvious this game would be some half assed nonsense. Skill up has a great video on destiny 2 and sums up my thoughts perfectly. How is is it possible that destiny 2 from launch doesn't have at the minimum 10 Strikes?
-
Things I'm disappointed at: - fixed rolls on everything - exotics are just boring, nothing really unique about them(blame the community) - ornaments. Seriously why do they just make the weapon white? Where's the originality?! Where's the cool designs? - can't pick which game mode in crucible - not enough activities that reward you appropriately. Too many times you get stuff way below your power level. - timed nightfalls. Nightfalls aren't difficult but when you mainly fail to running out of time through no fault of your own(bosses that use time teleporting, disappearing, and vaporizing floors) - token system replacing guaranteed drops - lack of variety in items like ships and weapons I really enjoy only playing this game only on Tuesdays and having a lot of time to play my other games, but there really is no desire to even play this game once you exhaust your powerful engrams for the week.

Played the beta, saw it was going to be bare minimum, waiting a year or two before buying.

I’m out. I’m done. Game looks pretty and strike playlist is cool BUT No level advantages, no prestige guns from raid, wack IB, wack public events, no weapon perk variations, tokens, tokens, tokens crap,no adept weapons, can only play with 4 friends at a time in crucible alienating others for the sake of lag stability...yeah Bungie penalize the players because your to garbage to fix lag issues properly on your end! F UC K YOU! Falling a asleep as soon as I select my character...it’s been a good run but I think it pays to be a play later after reading reviews and cashing in on Bungie enticements to play are issued type player than it is to be a forefront pioneer grinding out the crap released. I don’t know what happened to my game but it not the one I loved in year one and that’s saying something all things considered. Gonna take the fan boys tricking for shards advice and go play something else. Fan boys to the rescue in 3...2..1

Colossal let down. I loved Destiny. Was worried this was going to happen once they started nerfing everything fun. Something as simple as sparrow / wall glitching, for me, added a ton of fun. I loved getting OP weapons and gear. The chase was great and playing with them...even better. D2 bores me. Like a lot of average games you play for a few and then move on.
-
I’ll never forget that amazing quest where I came across Devrim Kay out in the wild being swarmed by Fallen. He was pinned down and I saved him and then he followed me as I helped him complete an in depth multipart Intel quest where we at one point linked up with some resistance NPCs with some really cool dialogue and backstory. Yeah, that was the best part of D2 for me.
-
I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed...just not addicted. I think a lot of people are taking this way too seriously. There are hundreds of games I don’t like. It stops at that...I don’t care for it...but does a bad game have to make you feel disappointed? I was very addicted to D1. I was dedicated to only that game the entire time it was out. Now D2 comes out and you’re right, the reward system gave me no reason to play. Do I feel the need to make a thread and complain? Not really. I just live on with my regular life and play once or twice a week if I feel like it. If you wanted to make the biggest statement to Bungie, it would be to just stop playing. But crying on the forums while you’re still logging in hours doesn’t push them to fix anything.
-
Honestly people, D1 was a horrible game too. It was overhyped and at launch the community got shit on. So when I got D2 I came in with extremely piss poor expectations and I wasn't disappointed at all because I knew the truth. Bungie sucks. The point is learn from your mistakes lol.
-
Have you tried restarting your router? I had to a couple times before the 12 v 12 big team battles with tanks started showing up. The heroic strike playlist and the three-man micro raid showed up as well. Just make sure to leave it unplugged for at least thirty seconds.

Edited by Iccotak: 10/23/2017 10:49:22 AMWatch this Old Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIp7vZuYzoA When Destiny was first being shown off we were promised a Large Shared World Shooter RPG. That was "Ancient Fantasy" + "Hard Science Fiction". That is what it was initially advertised as and what Year 3 D1 was shaping up to be. The problem is that Destiny 2 has taken the franchise into becoming a game that I simply did not want. We got a standard FPS Skill based shooter with PvP set as end-game. It is trying to use the Halo formula to satisfy the competitive shooters. That design choice does not work with Loot based games. You're fighting against human players in the Crucible and you're fighting an army of drones in PvE. What makes PvE fun is being a powerful badass what makes the Crucible fun is the competition and proving your better against a real person with access to the same weapons abilities. They're not the same and should not be balanced as such. It is trying to be a jack of all trades but consequently making it a master of none. There are games that do what Destiny does, and better. Making it a competitive PvP is the opposite of what Destiny was supposed to be and shaping up to be by Year 3. This feels like a slap in the face to the people who stuck around and supported Destiny. Bungie should stop trying to make it Halo when that is a completely different formula. PvP does not work as a core aspect in Destiny. They took what could have been an amazing RPG and made it a simple shooter. Big middle finger to the fans who made the first game successful. ALSO. The developers needed more time to deliver the game's scope and depth that they originally intended to make. Destiny is made by AAA developers, supported by AAA publishers, and is sold as a $60 game. They already have the money and support they need to make a complete product. The fact that it is not a complete game at launch, and is in reality an incomplete foundation that relies on content updates as well as paid DLCs to add things that should have been in the game in the first place, is unacceptable.
-
I’m still finding the game pretty fun, actually. Played last night with some friends and ran the raid, which couple of them had not completed. Bought and paid for DLCs in advance and I am very satisfied with my purchase, as I was with the previous 3 years worth of content which was all bought and paid for in advance. I guess I wasn’t upset like all of y’all are because I didn’t expect things to be the same. I didn’t expect 3 yrs worth of content, plus a new game would be available day one or even in the first month. I think a lot of the changes they’ve made are for the better of the game in the long run. Perhaps some of y’all are just too short sighted and narrow minded to understand that. Well, I’ll just sit over here and wait for the triggered to throw out the “fan boy”, “brown noser” and whatever other childish comments salty kids throw out to mask their hurt feelings. Toodles, hope some of y’all find your way off that Pity Party Tain y’all have been riding.
-
My own problem with d2 is I waited as we all did 3 years and d2 feels incomplete many people will say they will fix it in next DLC but my problem with that is you shouldn't pay for fix since I have paid £50 pound for this game game feels weak no real match making in game clan xp has crap rewards in every thing exotics feel more like legendary yet you have YouTubers that keep on saying it's a amazing game which is not it feels like a RIP OFF DESTINY 1
-
How many posts are there that say the same thing? IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT PLAY IT
-
Just did the raid on my Warlock and got 2 bonds and my 6th rocket launcher from turning in tokens. The raid is glitchy AF and the loot system is poop. How could they screw this game up so bad when Destiny 1.was so close to being just right? I'm not talking about the story but everything else.
-
Looking at how the highest viewed streamers hardly play D2 at all now shows the state of the game right now. With D1 they would play all day long, even patrols had a purpose for bounty rewards etc. I am a casual, not having done the raid because why bother, light level means nothing,I got a raid scout from clan engram's,same with trials guns, having not done trials. Lack of bounties ,weapon rolls or mods and strike rewards have made the game like every other shooter around. You only play PvP on all the other fps games(COD,Battlefields, Titanfalls etc),and hardly play the campaign again. We have to accept that D2 is one of these games now,but with real poor PvP games options.
-
Everyone on these forums have always been a bunch of crybabies. The truth is Destiny 2 wasn’t meant to be grinded by sweaty no life nerds, it was meant for casual play and if you play the game for grinding like that you are wasting your time. Go play another game. Very simple fix. Come back when Overwatch gets ruined again.

Edited by Smith5084: 10/22/2017 3:55:24 AMD1 was a game that I played 2-3 nights a week for 3 years solid, because there was always something that I felt like that I could get that was better than what I already had. Static rolls killer this franchise for me. It took me about 3-4 weeks to feel like that there was no longer any reason to log in. Anything that could be obtained from end game activities was either a cosmetic armor piece, or a weapon that was easily outclassed by other weapons that could be obtained from vendor engrams. They've neutered raid and Trials weapons to the point that obtaining them provides no discernible advantage to just running Crucible and public events. Any prestige level activities are pointless. All that they drop are cosmetic items, "auras", and emblems. I'm not grinding high level activities for rewards that have no impact on overall gameplay. I'm still scratching my head how Bungie thought it was a good idea to release a sequel to a loot based game that is essentially completely devoid of high level end game loot. A lot of people need to be fired for the decisions that were made in this game, because it takes more than one or two people to make a game this bad. I just hope that this doesn't turn out to be a franchise killer, because D1 had the potential to be one of the greatest franchises in gaming history. I'm just not sure that Bungie has the vision and will to deliver on what this franchise could be.

Edited by FarqS: 10/22/2017 2:08:38 PMthere are so many things missing from D2 compared to D1 vanilla but before i reel off a long list, let me sum it up in one sentence. it's not fun anymore. and now here's the list why it's not fun; - 95% RNG - Power DOESN'T matter - lost sectors are the easiest things to find and even then they're not worth finding - mobility? my 76 year old mother can move faster than a guardian - no exotics are worth having (except mida multi-tool...until bungie nerf it....again) - crucible? teamwork = teamshooting. it's the ONLY way to play - i still can't fly my ship - the only character of interest is already dead. RIP Gary - what happened to the moon, venus and mars? will i have to buy them again? - "play supremacy again. i dare you. i double dare you" - Jules Winnfield (Pulp Fiction) - bring back peter dinklidge, pleeease! - i wish Tess Everis got to use her gun because there's a good chance she wouldn't now be in the tower - i never thought i'd miss grimoire cards but i do - i'm sure the exo stranger would now have time to explain because no-one else can. - vex, hive, fallen, i've killed you guys like a million times now i just run past you. git gud! i'm trying to make light of the state of D2 but i'm past angry, disappointed or sad. i'm seething.
