I had fun at the beginning of the journey. Then I don't know what happened. The final nail in the coffin for me was the absence of prestige raid rewards.
This time around I had the belief that D2 would pick up where year 3 left off. Not a few steps behind vanilla. I am Jack's broken dream.
How are you guys finding the game at this point? How are you spending your time when online? Or are you taking a break till the expansion?
Edit: Trending. I would like to thank you all for your contributions. It isn't satisfying for me that this post has so many people in agreement. I respect that the developers put in long hours and massive amounts of energy to craft Destiny 2. I understand that the product at launch is a foundation that will be built on in time. However, when you review the constructive feedback and the similar ideas from a variety of Guardians. It is genuinely surprising that Bungie didn't anticipate these issues would eventuate. Sadly this culminates in a validation of the title. At this point in time "D2 is Disappointing".

I paused mid game one day and searched the store to see what other games are coming out. Yeah, I think it’s time to move on.

Day One Destiny 1 here. I have to admit that D2 is bit lacking at the moment. However, I'm sure they will add a lot more contents in the future to make it more fun and lively.

The problem is there isn’t enough pve content. Period. End of story. You can’t have people beating the highest endgame content (the raid) same day it drops lol When world of Warcraft would drop or other mmos it would take months of work to get to the final bosses. There is no lengthy progression. It should have been strikes > heroic strikes/nightfall > prestige nightfall > multiple raids and at the same time you have public events and milestones with a massively tilted RNG (low chance) to get something crazy from the static loot system. For the pvp endgame. Implement a matchmaking system exactly like halos old ranking system. Have lone wolf and team playlists. As you rank you get access to different tiers of gear that are purely for pvp and you can only use when you are that rank. Idk still working this one out. Casual pvp can be another playlist where “anything goes”. The game is great and really fun! I am having a blast! I will be honest and say I haven’t beat the raid or prestige nightfall, but in the back of my mind I know there is a static loot table and a brick wall headed straight towards me.

BUNGIE! do you not see that ppl are not excited?!?!? Here's a little tip on how to keep ppl engaged. make some awesome gear and weapons with game changing perks that ppl really want and make them grind for it! I mean its so simple. Just make some stuff that is not rng give people a goal to work towards! nobody wants to do a raid for some cosmetic stuff!!!!! STOP RESKINING THINGS!!! if iron banner or any other special event had its own type of weapon ppl would go nuts. so tired of the reskins with a few stat changes. its like im a genius.

There's just no point to it. I loved Destiny & turned a blind eye to the majority of its flaws. Destiny 2 as it now stands is a pathetic incompetent mess compared to the first game. No replay value, nothing worth grinding for, no point to reaching maximum light. Yes I said light, it was good enough for the last 3 years & if they wanted the new rocket launcher to be called anything but the Dubious Volley they had over a year to say something about that too! It doesn't help that as an Xbox 360 turned Xbox one player Bungie & Activision have constantly treated me like a redheaded step-child. I hear the last two years worth of Sony exclusives just made it into the Xbox inventory. Well thank you so much you condescending arrogant bunch of s#!t weasels! I allied myself with Dead Orbit in the clan rally but that was the last time I played. I didn't bother logging in the following week to collect my new gun with the loyalty discount because all the reviews said it was a piece of crap. I didn't bother with Iron Banner either, despite it being my favourite PVP activity in Destiny, because the crucible in Destiny is broken beyond repair. Making everything 4v4 was a stupid idea. Levels are utterly pointless in crucible including Iron Banner & Trials but that hardly matters when there are only 5 viable weapons anyway so unless you're using two of them you're at a massive disadvantage. Now my favourite annual live event has been cancelled when Halloween has been celebrated in Destiny every year since launch. Probably because of all the hate they got last year which was entirely justified. They cheapened a great event by making almost all the items from the previous year readily available & locking everything new behind a microtransaction paywall with RNG that was even more punishing than the Gjallarhorn drop rates meaning even people who spent upward of $300 on Treasures of the Lost couldn't get everything they wanted. Taking it off the table this year is like a child throwing a tantrum because they got caught stealing money from mommy's purse. Disappointing but not wholly unexpected. I've already got the DLC pass because I got the digital deluxe version of the game but depending on when Anthem is being released I may not even bother playing the DLC this time around because Destiny 2 is just such a let down in every possible way. It's nothing more than a half arsed cash grab by Activision & Bungie's along for the ride like a passenger on a rollercoaster that's on the verge of going all Final Destination 3. I'm sick of lining both their pockets.

I echo your thoughts. I haven't attempted the raid because there just isn't any draw... the token system just doesn't seem like a good trade for the work put into it. I got on this past week at reset and halfheartedly ran my characters through then logged off. Between the repeating engram decryption (I don't even get excited anymore when I get an exotic engram) and the lack of PvP choices, it has gotten stale. I went back to Titan Fall 2 PvP and had a blast.

Completely agree with this topic. I don't know if it's just me but, I feel lied to in the way. I loved the first 3 weeks of Destiny 2. I was mad for it, I was telling friends to buy it, we all joined a clan, started playing alongside each other and other clan members having an amazing time.... Then I don't quite know what happened. I want to say boredom kick in. Slowly the clan became smaller, I was bumping into less people randomly on worlds, then my friends slowly began to stop playing. Then I became the last of friends within a barely active clan, grinding away at what? I hit the level cap, I pretty much sourced the all weapons & armour I had wanted, in an ever shrinking world... And now I think I'm done. I'm bored. There is no reason for me to log on to the destiny servers at all.

Might be even more disappointing when the dlc drops https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/236432797/0/0

Disappointment? More like an insult to core gamers.

The first two weeks of destiny 2 was the best. Every public event i went to there were 7+ people there waiting for it to start, my friends list was full of people playing. Then after about a month everyone realized that the game is so boring. You can hit max power in 3 weeks, and the prestige raid is just for the cosmetics! I was doing prestige baths today when I realized: why do this when all I'm going to get are tokens? I left. I'll come back to play the dlc, but if they're bad I am not buying the third one.

Main complaint (rolled into one) and reason for upvote is....token system\fixed rolls\lack of perks...SUCKS ASS.

Relax its just a beta

The game got boring quick. I don't know why Bungie made a big deal out of lost sectors. It's just a cave with nothing in it. I've never had an exotic drop from one. Not worth doing. Strikes have a low drop rate. They are also not worth the time. You are better off doing public events for an exotic. Patrols, side missions, and Ikora Ray meditations do not offer anything exciting either. NOTHING is worth getting. I have over 4500 hours logged on D1. I find D2 very lack luster. I'm also not going to do prestige raid. Again it doesn't offer anything. Im also tired of this Chucky Cheese token system to get your loot. They should have just put skee ball or whack a mole game in the tower so you can turn in your tickets for a stuffed animal. Turn in you tokens for your 10 millionth stuffed origin story. Not fun
-
This game is ass, simple as that.
-
Weapons are boring and all the same, once you get "high impact frame" pulse rifle, how many more do you need? One with Iron Banner skin, one with Faction, one from an engram? D1 weapons were unique and cool, getting Y1 Thorn from exotic quest, ToM, Last Word or Bad Juju to name a few. WTF happened to this game? For me that was the most fun part of the game, now they just have several categories and a whole bunch of skins/names for the same guns. What's more, all you will get from seasons is just more skins!
-
More vault space in D1 please.
-
Been playing D1 and other games for the past few weeks. Sold D2 on eBay for $38.00. The DLC's will be just like putting lipstick on a pig. I'll check back in a year or so and see if Bungie can pull off a miracle with their broken sequel.

Well, my clan still has a decent amount of players playing. However, my regular raid team and I basically ran out of stuff to do. We didn't bother playing prestige raid because there's really no incentive to play it. We help out the other clan members if and when they need help with the normal raid, but other than that, playtime has definitely gone down. Two of the guys from my raid team actually moved on to Shadow of War and I'm thinking of doing the same until next the next IB.
