I’m finding it’s basically a waste of time to use these anymore. The throw animation takes so long that it’s more efficient to reload your weapons instead. If you manage to get through the painfully slow throw animation the knife flys through the air as if thrown by a toddler. Every other melee a quick attack and I believe that hunters should be the quickest. (With full mobility at least) I had so many stick around medals in D1 because the gunslinger class melee was useful and relevant. I still run gunslinger in D2 (not all the time) but I don’t ever count on my melee. I know it makes it more challenging and I’m sure I’m going to hear a lot of “git gud” around here but this is just my observations. Would like to hear yours.

Throwing knife definitely needs something more than just the fact that it does damage. Other classes get special effects with their melees like blinding enemies, increasing their movement speed, reloading their gun, providing an overshield, regenerating their health. What's throwing knife's effect? That you can use it a little bit further away than a normal melee? So what? Why would I waste time tossing knives at dregs and acolytes when I could just shoot them? This is especially true with Way of the Sharpshooter.
