The GSA’s response https://www.google.com/amp/6abc.com/amp/society/girl-scouts-boy-scouts-house-is-on-fire/2520116/
"The Boy Scouts' house is on fire. Instead of addressing systemic issues of continuing sexual assault, financial mismanagement and deficient programming, BSA's senior management wants to add an accelerant to the house fire by recruiting girls."
Just call them plane old Scouts and be done with it.
-
Edited by Vegan Superhero: 10/16/2017 4:29:38 PMSo just call it scouts
-
When I saw this I lost any respect I had for the BSA. It's a -blam!-ing BOY'S club for -blam!- sake. The GSA needs to reevaluate its organization
-
I'm ok with it because the Boy Scouts teach traditional values. Would be good for girls to have a national organization that isn't just a big cookie sale business to join
-
So Scouts becomes a unisex organisation? Dont really see the fuss tbh.
-
The segregation is a total joke in this day and age.in my opinion.

Edited by Sainyule: 10/15/2017 12:52:06 AMOh geez the users in here, a girl is going to learn outdoor activities, let's hide in our bomb shelters as boys cry about adjectives. >but muh boy scouts are for boys why not change girl scouts Is it easier to let one girl join the boy scouts for a bit or completely change girl scouts and provide funding to a new style of girl scouts that we don't know if it has a large support base for? Huh, maybe if girls in girl scouts petitioned for this stuff then maybe that would happen. Instead of sitting there asking "why." Why don't you state that you're proud a girl has taken the first steps into possibly reforming girl scouts by showing girls are also interested in the outdoors, which then could also expand to boy scouts reforming to include girl scouts related activities instead of favoring separating the genders and having them follow specific gender rolls, we can have children do what they like and want to do, while also socializing with the opposite gender allowing them to be more confident and understanding of each other when they're older. Which can lead to more emotional intelligence and a decrease in anxiety and depression in teens and young adults. Oh geez, but no, "I want my boy scouts to only be boys and my girl scouts to only be girls, change girl scouts and send that bitch back over!"
-
WHY????????????????? This is so incredibly stupid.
-
Even the Girl Scouts think this decision is bad.
-
I think that this is a terrible idea. This will introduce many more problems for both the BSA and GSA. It will completely alter the point of the Boy Scouts, which is to teach young men how to be leaders. It's not to teach boys and girls to have a 'yay happy fun time' during meetings. Secondly, camping trips. Sure, camping with the other gender is fine as kids, but once you get into Boy Scouts, you have an entirely different scenario. There will undoubtedly be reports of the r-term (don't know if that's bannable) and kids turning one Eagle-Required Merit badge into another Eagle-Required Merit Badge.
someone tell me that they understand that.
Money is an issue too. Camps will have to build more facilities to accommodate the female Scouts. Bathrooms, tents, you name it, it will have to be built. Yes, I understand that the amount of Boy Scouts has fallen in the past few years. My troop had about 110 Scouts a couple years ago, and now we have about 30. We recruited one Scout last year. The solution is not to include more, but to change how Scouts recruit.
The Girl Scouts create half of their annual revenue needs through those famous cookies; they sell 200 million boxes a year which generate almost a billion dollars in sales. There is no word if the Boy Scouts will attempt their own cookie franchise
B-B-BUT MUH COOKIES!!!!! Seriously, how does this relate to the rest of the article? Is this supposed to be another argument on how Boyscouts allowing girls is a bad idea, because if so, it’s a terrible argument 😂
-
Heard this earlier and all i could think is "why?". Don't Girl Scouts do the same thing?
-
Wait, this isn't a thing already? Scouts in the UK allows both.
-
Edited by Chastice: 10/15/2017 3:32:23 AMAnother fabulous victory for social justice. Joy.
-
Create two separate unisex pacts of the Scouts in general. /thread
-
As a Boy Scout, I think that they should simply make Girl Scouts be the same as Boy Scouts. I have no problem with girls in Cub Scouts, but Boy Scouts is for boys.
-
Ironic title is ironic
-
Oh no, girls learning outdoor activities instead of how to sell something on the street corner Oh the humanity Rome is truly burning now
-
They should've changed Girl Scouts or created another organization for girls that does the same thing as Boy Scouts. They should NOT have ruined Boy Scouts.
-
But muh gender roles
-
This wouldn't even be a problem if girl scouts wasn't complete trash. Girl scout pretty much became another feminist organization designed to force liberal views on young girls. They hardly ever do any outdoor stuff. The boy scouts is a far better organization that teaches boys about real values, so it doesn't surprise me that more girls want to join it than girl scouts.
-
It's called Girl Scouts
-
I don’t want to get coodies
-
Why? Why not just...idk, teach the same shit for both girl and boy scouts?
-
Isn't it called boy scouts for a reason? way to get in with sexism etc everywere.
-
I actually agree with the GSA's response. But how trash does their organization leadership need to be in order to make girls more interested in the boy equivalent?
